Just curious, what was the GPA cut-off for admission at HCC? Also, what classes did they use to figure the GPA? I know that they've changed their pre-req's requirement recently, but their website doesn't reflect the changes. (Pretty stupid of them if you ask me.) Now I can't remeber what those changes were except for adding in A&P2 and micro as pre-req's. Was HCC the one that required 6 months of CNA to apply or was that somewhere else?
Last Fall it was 3.6, the highest GPA in the history of their program, as they said on orientation. It was calculated on base of 13 credits (A&P1, Algebra, Comp I and Sociology). Now they added all general education classes to the list of prereqs, which makes much more sense to me.

I was just accepted to HCC to start this Fall 2007. There is NO WAITING LIST! Basically, they take a look at your GPA for only your prerequisite classes and they take the highest ones. If there is a tie between students, they look at your total GPA for all your classes. Because they don't do waiting lists, the GPA's of applicants are different every time, so if you get rejected, just reapply for the next semester.
I am a recent grad from HCC, the thing you want to do is keep your GPA as high as possible for those prerequisite classes. I had a 3.6 and was accepted as an alternate, fortunately something happened and I was accepted a month later. A friend of mine had a higher GPA 3.8 or something and he too was an alternate. But once you're in it gets to be tough to stay in, so make sure this is what you really want to do. Good Luck

Hello! My name is Rachel and I am hoping to start the nursing program at HCC (Hillsborough Community College) in Spring '06. I have completed all the pre-reqs and I'm now waiting to hear back about my application.
I thought it would be nice to hear from other HCC students... possibly find a study partner for the Spring.
Anybody currently in the program? What has been your experience so far?
