FSCJ Summer 2013 Nursing Students

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi everyone, well I'm starting this convo so we all can get an idea of who, what, when, and where with FSCJ. Good topics would include testing materials, the average ranking of points for the upcoming term, and any other useful ideas that will help us all get into to this crazy hard nursing program! :) So, lets see if we can help each other out....and it's kinda fun to talk about nursing as well :)

Good luck everyone! I applied for last spring and the BIG WHITE ENVELOPES came just 17 days after the deadline. So hopefully you will be seeing something soon ;) And when you do get in.. time management is your best friend!

@abpeeler - Ask all the questions you want!

I was in the day program - evening was not even an option for the semester I was in. It was three semesters long - all together about 11 months. It is sort of randomized - meaning some weeks were 4 days and others were 5 days. We are told that the FSCJ summer RN semester will now be shorter, so who knows how the summer will be for the LPN program.

I think you will find happiness with either program! I know the hardest part about this process is THE WAITING!

Hello Everyone! I just signed up on allnurses so I am new to the convo. I also applied and am anxiously awaiting for the big white envelope! I hope, anyway. I know someone who got in in the spring and it IS a big packet size envelope. The rejection letter is a regular sized envelope. I know because I got one for the spring. This time I applied with 196 points so I hope that is enough. I also applied at JU and just did my interview there. My number one choice is to go to FSCJ though, work as a RN for a year and then go to the FSCJ bridge program for my BSN. It takes longer at FSCJ to get your BSN due to the working for a year requirement, BUT it is definitely the cheaper, much cheaper route. As a mother of two, cheap is good! I hope to be talking with everyone soon and good luck to all! Oh and BTW it only took three and a half weeks for my friend to get her acceptance letter. So, hopefully we will know anyday now!

Hey,

We are applying with the same total score 196 :)

My classes are A but I didn't do well on the NAT. I got 76. I am really scared and I really hope to get in. This waiting is killing me

Thanks so much! I really appreciate it! :0) I already accepted the day program ;) I just wanted to see...well idk. i was so excited. Lol. if I get into the RN, I guess il cross that path when I get there. Lol. They sure don't give you much time to do anything?! Lol. I had less than a week to submit/claim my acceptance. But it was a great feeling going to the nursing office and picking up all my goodies! I was like "I'm the bomb diggity baby". Hehe. The other times I've gone into that office were to just feel poopy ;)

But I was just excited...and I don't remember what I was going to ask. Lol. I think I was going to ask if you did the nights or days, which you've answered. Oh and my first semester will be M-T from 8-4:30. But it says that can change sometimes. But thanks again :)

@ Abpeeler,

Hey,

What are the requirements for LPN program?

Thank you

They do the scores a little differently than RN. Let me see if I can find it and il post it for you k. But off the top of my head: TABE test scores, GPA, and work experience. TABE is worth up to 10.0, GPA is worth up to 10.0, and work experience (1.0 is maximum, .25 pts for each full year up to 4 years) is just extra credit. I had 10.0 for TABE, 9.75 for GPA and 1.0 for work. TABE + GPA divided by 2 and then add in work experience. So my score was 10.88. If you want an application just email the school. They are very good at emailing you back ;)

Hi everyone!

I applied for the summer term with 217.96 points, so I'm just waiting for the official news from FSCJ. Although I'm pretty confident, I don't want to start getting things until I know for sure! I heard that the packets come earlier than the 8 week timeline that we've been told so I'm just going to keep checking my mail! Fingers crossed for big white envelopes =)

Hi there and welcome!! Good luck! :0)

Thank you a lot,

How was the TABE?

Thank you a lot,

How was the TABE?

I thought the TABE was okay and I did very well on it. It's very similar to the TEAS. I took it over a year ago. And I think it's free to take? Now the PSB-NAT for RN, I did not so well on. It wasn't the questions, it was the time limit. All the questions I answered...I got right. Lol. I just kinda froze while taking that test. I was cool beans with the TABE? grr. I'm taking the PSB-NAT again in late march and I'm going to show that turd who's the boss! Haha ;0)

hahaha

I am studying the Teas book, and I am planning to retake the NAT in march too, but you are applying with a score over 200 for RN? Right? If that the case, you should be fine. When you got accepted for LPN, you gave me a second plan, I should take the TABE and I might get accepted for LPN. I know LPN is a long way for me because I want a BS in nursing.

I wish that was my score :( I applied with 189. I won't be able to add micro points till the spring semester since they changed the dates :( so it was meant to be I guess with the LPN. My long term goal is to be an instructor...MSN/Clinical ed...teaching CNA, LPN and RN. I only teach health and safety now, but I love it. So learning the LPN training I think will be good for me. It's been fun getting ALL my stuff together...material wise for the program! Im sure the RN materials will be crazy too! Lol. Not looking forward to the goofy outfits tho. Lol. I do hope they're stylish ;) But id go for it Rayanita! its not working backwards, just a little slower ;)

Also, anyone else who got accepted to LPN, I've created a group on Facebook. It's private so you'll have to message me about it. We can discuss more topics than on here, like teachers names, hospitals and stuff. And it will only allow us to see each others profile pic and names. We won't actually be friends...at least until we work together. Hehe.
