FAMU Nursing Spring 2012

So I know it's somewhat far out, but anyone planning to apply to FAMU's nursing school in Spring 2012? I'm currently AD USAF, but I will be separating VERY soon (yay! and sad at the same time ) to pursue school full time. I'm still a few classes short of my A.A., but hoping to have it by summer next year. Anybody else in the same boat? Or am I floating by myself?

@ RN in FL, thank you! i really hope i get in too. it was the only program that i applied to, but i told myself that if i didn't get in, i would just go back to active duty, since they are now recruiting for my job until early next year. hopefully it doesn't come to that, but if it does, then i'll take that route.

i see. Have you tried to talk to the recruiter at FAMU, and enter thru the Army ROTC, where u can get commissioned after graduating??? They have seats set aside for people that want to enter the Army Nurse Corp upon graduating. Speak to a Capt *** at FAMU. My daughter was going to enter that route, but unfortuneatly, her gpa was too low, to apply. If you already have army experience, that is great. You must past the PT test to qualify. You get a stipend and everything. You have to go to LTDC at Ft Bragg, this summer, and then you get your commission after you grad in 2014. I take it you have all of your pre reqs?? She marched in the "100" for 2 yrs, and didn't study or take her pre-nursing seriously. Thats how I know the scoop about what they accept.

no ma'am, i'm actually still in the air force, i'm just a reservist now. i'm hoping to get a commission with the af after i complete my degree. i actually get a stipend now, but that's because i'm getting post-9/11 gi bill money (which is amazing, by the way). an army friend of mine suggested the prgm that i believe you're talking about, but i believe he said i have to alrdy be accepted into a nursing prgm to be considered. i guess i'll find out soon enough.

Hey there everyone. My name is Hailey and I applied for FAMU Spring 2012 Regular Prelicensure Nursing Program. I just received an email 2 days ago for the interview. I was wondering if anyone else has received an interview. I also am worried about the time that I am going to be allowed to move from Jax to Tally. I have been looking at student housing, does anyone have any suggestions or know anyone that needs a roomate? My interview is Dec 2nd!

@Hailey, congrats on your interview. Is it only the interview, or did u actually get in??? Out of curiosity, are you pre-nursing only, or getting into the professional aspect of the program. If I may ask, what was your gpa? Don't think it will be bad to find housing. Google "student housing solutions, tons will come up.

Hey there, thank you! it is only the interview so far. It is Dec 2nd and I'm not sure when we will find out the results. I am applying for the nursing school. I go to UNF right now I am done with my AA and all my pre-req's. So I guess that means I would be getting into the professional program. There isnt an interview for pre-nursing I think thats just what they code your major as before you actually get into the Nursing program after app and interview. My pre-req GPA is 3.75, but because I slacked off my first year of college and my overall GPA at UNF is 3.14, I dont know if FAMU calculates it differently.

I know UNF calulate the GPA for pre-req's seperate, didn't think FAMU did, thought they looked at overall gpa. That sure is cutting it close with that interview with FAMU, being that the semester will be ending so soon after for them to make decisions for Jan. FAMU can be rather slow at stuff. Been there...

No FAMU does still calculate overall, i was just putting my pre-req in there. UNF takes pre-req and TEAS. I applied for Fall 2011, but did not get in. I will reapply for UNF Summer 2012 if I do not get in to FAMU, but I am not going to pass it up! Did you graduate from FAMU?

Nooooooo i sure wanted to. My son graduated did this past apr with his undergrad, and is in grad school there now. I got my adn from Pensacola Jr. college, and by BS from University of West Florida. I really hope my daughter get into UNF.

yes ma'am, i'm from around here so i dnt have to look for housing. i am looking for a place closer to campus, tho, but because i have a house full of stuff, i'm not looking for student housing, i'm looking for a house or maybe a townhouse someplace where it's quiet. yeah i'm gonna call on the date indicated on the letter, i'll let u know what time it's scheduled for. hope to meet u there!
