If so, what department, what was your starting pay, how was/is the orientation period, and how do you like the job in itself? Thanks! I look foward to working there when I graduate in 2010:)

HI guys.

For all those who got offered positions CONGRATS. Late last year i was offered a position at Florida Hospital, Orlando campus for the Multisystem PCU. I was super excited. I already had a job in Connecticut and was relocating down there for this job. Until they mention the $13,500 binding clause that states that if you leave before your 2 yr contract (2 yrs does not start until after your orietation is completed) you will have to reimburse them the prorated amount. BECAREFUL, THE CLAUSE STANDS WETHER YOU GET DISMISSED OR YOU VOLUNTARILY LEAVE. When i investicated and even spoke to a young lady who worked there prior to getting in the program, may have failed one or two of the exams and was told that she might to consider something other than critical care. Because she worked there before they helped her get a med surg position, however they are not obligated to find you a position on a less critical floor. And though she is still working there she is still held accountable to pay back that amound because she did not complete the program and she still used up resource.

So becareful before you sign the dotted lines. If this something that doesn't phase you, then by all means proceed. It was enough to scare me and so i retracted my acceptance and continued to work in Connecticut. Flew to Fort Lauderdale 2 weeks ago for interview and was offered that position and it does not include those rediculous amount of money.

How did your interview go? Are you planning on moving to Orlando if you get the job? or commuting?

I also had an interview with FH. Best of luck to you all!

Hello all,

Congrats to those who have received placement in the GN programs. I am new to this thread, but been on all nurses for a while now. I will graduate with my BSN from UCF in August 2011. Just wondering when is a good time to start applying for GN programs. I read somewhere that you could apply up to 6 months in advance for FL Hospital's GN program. I applied, but got rejected. I am wondering if this has anything to do with the fact that I still have one semester to complete (summer), and others who applied are already RNs. Any advice on when you should start applying, and should I apply again closer to August?

Shellie,

I don't remember exactly how long it took to get a call back.. I think about a week. I do remember I recieved an email to do a personality test and then got the call the next day.

Aimswenk,

I am sorry but I don't know that much about how the program works. I am not sure exactly how much more those with Bachelors degrees get but I do remember it is not much more (less than a dollar more).

Good luck to both of you.

flybritt,

I was also rejected a few times before being accepted. I would def. apply again after your graduation. Best of luck.

Hello Everyone,

I am soon to be a new graduate with my BSN in May 2011, and I was very interested in applying to Florida Hospital. I admire what they stand for, and also the staff that I have encountered are all polite. My question to everyone or anyone who can answer please, would it be best for me to go to the hospital personally and apply, or take my chances with the online application?

Hi Kartia,

Would you by chance be able to tell me what the average pay at Florida Hospital?

I don't know average pay but new grad pay I believe for AS degree is $21.40 and a bit extra for BSN. That is base pay. Then there are differentials for nights and weekends.

Vindy, depending on the school you are attending, you may end up doing your clinicals at FH. That is a great way to meet staff and learn about the hospital system.

IHeartDukeCTICU, Florida Hospital's RN pay range is based on 0-19 years of experience. The base pay may seem low; however, shift differentials are pretty good. And, Preeps is right, FH is hiring experienced nurses, there are numerous openings in Critical Care.

Hi Molly-FLHospital,

I am from miami, and soon to graduate with my BSN. I would very much like to relocate to Orlando. I have been to Florida Hospital once in East Orlando, and love have friendly everyone is. I wanted to know, would I have more chances of getting hired if I went to the Hospital of my choice directly and apply, or applying online.

Thank you for your time

Thank you Preeps for the quick reply....are you an employee at FH?

Yes I am.

Yes I am.

Hello Preeps. I am really wanting a change. I am from miami, and just want to start my nursing career somewhere different. I have done my research and believe FH would be a good place to start. What advice can you give me as far as application wise, and if I get a call for an interview, and also FH work system?

Thank you
