I emailed the CON staff last week and the coordinator said they are working to get decisions out by the end of February. I assume that means they will get it in the mail by the end of the month and we will get our letters perhaps in beginning of March.

Hey Everyone, I meet all the requirements… I have a BFA and a 3.77 gpa. I have a 4.0 gpa in my prerequisites and my GRE stands at 154 verbal and 151 quantitative. I wish I was a little higher in everything, but fingers crossed. When I emailed CON last year with my stats asking if there was anything I could do to increase my competitiveness for acceptance I was told "As for your academics, tests scores, degree and grades you're doing fine. It is a competitive program but you are meeting the requirements so that's good." I am hoping that I can get into UF for my BSN and then have a shot at going to UF for my DNP. But one step at a time, right? lol
Haha, that's an awesome non-answer they gave you. Really I suppose they can't divulge too much information about their selection process. I have a 3.75 and 3.8 GPA on my first and second bachelor's degrees, respectively. A 4.0 on my prereqs. On the GRE I scored 165 verbal 151 quantitative. I met the requirements, no doubt, but considering there isn't an interview it must all come down to the essay and CV. I'm worried that no amount of professional work will make up for my lack of volunteer work... but between working full time through two BAs and nursing prerequisites it's kinda tough. Anyway, keep checking that mail box every day! I see that no one here has received an acceptance letter so there's still hope!

haha I never looked at it as a non-answer. I was just excited that it was a response that didn't include the phrase "no chance." lol

I'm nervous about having no medical volunteer/experience. I have some volunteer time with children events, but I couldn't commit to a set volunteer schedule. I worked at an ad agency and if I was on deadline for a project then that may mean late nights at the office or coming in on weekends. I'm volunteering now so if I don't make it this year then I will be better prepared for the next time around. Like you said, I think it will come down to the essay and CV. I am nervous now so I assume by the end of the month I will be on a first name basis with my mailman. lol

I was told the end of February too when I asked the coordinator. I won't start stalking the mailbox until at least the last week of Feb.

Someone sent my a private message asking: "I wanted to ask where you heard that UF takes more than 27 people? as a UF student, I was told they only take around 25 people! but if they take more I am interested to hear about it! thanks in advance!" Apparently I can't do private messages yet because I haven't been active enough on the site, so here's my answer: I had lunch with someone in the ABSN program and she described it to me.

Here's a link to the CON facebook where they posted a photo of the ABSN students last year. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...0847128&type=3 There's about 50. My husband's UF ABSN class had about 50 people in it a few years ago.

When I met with one of the program coordinators this summer, I was told that they admit around 60-65 students for the program. I also tried to shadow some nurses, but it's pretty close to impossible here in Gainesville. I'm not sure why it's so much easier to shadow a doctor than a nurse? I ended up shadowing a surgeon in Ohio, who let me spend a lot of time with the nursing staff; it was really important to me since I have no prior nursing experience and I wanted to make sure I would be a good fit for such a demanding field.

Does anyone know how many people usually apply or have applied this year?

    Hi GatorLove,

I have not heard anything regarding the number of applicants.... but if the traffic here is any indication it may be less than last year... but that may just be wishful thinking.

Will they tell us via email, or do I need to be looking for a letter in the mail?

If it is the same as last year, they will let us know by mail.

    Well....It's February 6th....we're getting closer

I believe they let us know by mail....large envelope, acceptance...small envelope, rejection...or at least that's how it was last year.
I applied to USF and they said they have about 300 applicants per year. Maybe it's around the same for UF but I'm hoping it's smaller this year! lol
