Want to do Flight, but, well, I cannot stop eating CRAP!

Specialties Flight

Hi all,

No this thread is no joke. And no I am not really eating crap in a literal sence, although actual crap might be healthier for me.

I am not huge by any means, but just a little over weight. I know I want to be a flight paramedic in the future, but I have a horrible addiction to ice cream and other sweets...

How do you guys keep away from them?

tried it.... well I have had the GI bug for 3 days now, so no problems eating ice cream those days, and I probably shed a few pounds! :(

So the gum trick doesn't work... time to pull out the big guns! Find a food... or make yourself find a food, that you like better than ice cream, trust me it's possible. If you live in the Chicagoland area, there are places like Yogenfruz and Red Mango that have this frozen yogurt that is only 195 calories for a decent amount. I used to be an ice cream ADDICT.. even that may be an understatement, I just finally got so fed up that I stopped.. then I found this frozen yogurt - I don't even like ice cream any more. Another thing I have started is plain oatmeal with dried cranberries.. 100% delicious once you get past the blandness- its sweet and very healthy. Little things like that can help?

Well the GI thing turned out to be a blessing in disguise!

I havent had ice cream in a couple of months at least, started taking a vitamin, Eating much healthier with smaller portions and A LOT less sweets, started exercisising regularly now that the weather is warm up here in the north (I LOVE mountain biking and road biking and HATE exercising in a gym, but unfortunatly we have a long winter up here, so I am going to have to compromise some how this winter if I want to keep the weight off)

I have lost 15 lbs so far and I feel great, a lot more enegy! Thanks everyone for the advise!

I have a sweet tooth and I have agreed to allow myself 1-2 cookies in the morning with my coffee. This allows me to feed the sweet tooth but then I have all day to work it off. Also, stop eating after 7pm or 3-4hrs before you go to bed. Lastly, I cut out all sugar drinks(not coffee) especially sodas, about 8yrs ago and my waistline has never been a problem since then. This was the ONLY thing that I have been religious about because the diet drinks were giving me sugar cravings and regular drinks were loaded with non-satisfying calories.

Nothing tastes better than feeling thin and healthy!!

In about three months i have dropped close to 40 lbs, i now weigh 129! I am eating MUCH healthier and exercising regularly, even when I work my 24 hour shifts I walk laps. I eat frozen yogurt ones a week if that.... I feel heck of a lot better than I did before!
