UCSF Nurse Residency 10/2017

I wanted to start a thread for the UCSF Residency Program applicants. I recently applied and the application is open until 4/17/2017. These forums give me some piece of mind, Hopefully we can help eachother out!

The recent RN Residency was in fact for UCSF Medical Center, for both the Parnassus and Mission Bay locations. The deadline was April 17th and then extended until the 19th. I too had an account set up to be notified when positions became available, however I was not notified. I make it a habit to check the career pages of hospitals I want work at on a regular basis - which is how I learned of the residency (I know it's a moot point now). I honestly don't think there is much you can do at this point but unfortunately wait until they open it again next spring.

To answer your other question, they allowed folks to apply without a license but the deadline to obtain it was Sept. 9, 2017 and a start date of Oct. 9, 2017.

Thank you so much for taking out of your day to respond to me. While this saddens me greatly, I can't help but accept my faith. As an effort in good faith i'll attempt to call recruitment office to see if anything can be done. With that being said, do you know when the other residency programs in the bay area will be opening up?

No problem. If you are interested in Peds check out Children's Hospital Oakland and apply to their RN I/II positions....they currently have PICU and NICU available. other than that i'm not really sure of any opening up soon.

Not exactly the Bay Area, but according to their website, UC Davis will open their application for their RN Residency program on May 3.

Otherwise, it's worth bookmarking the jobs websites of hospitals where you want to work, and checking them every day. Even those that have new grad programs regularly sometimes open them sooner or later than expected. Good luck in your job hunt!

Sutter Health is planning to open one this Summer I believe and am hopeful Lucile Packard will too!

Unfortunately I don't think Lucile Packard is planning on having a cohort this summer :( .. I previously emailed the recruiter.

That's depressing :(

Unfortunately, I'm going the adult track. Thank you so much nonetheless.

This was very helpful. I'll be sure to apply. I can't thank you enough.

Does anyone know when John Muir will open for the fall start date?

How weird! I was told by a current employee (L&D RN at Lucile Packard who's also on the New Grad "Committee") that they are opening applications for that department at the end of May and into June for the summer/fall cohort. Maybe it varies depending on department as to whether they are opening applications? I hope they do open positions for us to apply to *fingers crossed

I was told by the nurse recruiter that there would not be a program until 2018 so I hope she's wrong! Fingers crossed!!
