Took NCLEX Today for the Second Time

Hello All!

I have not been on here in a looooong time (since I took my NCLEX in June). Anyways I just took the test again today for the second time.

When I ttok the test back in June, I got 265 questions. Believe it or not, I got all 265 AGAIN! This frustrates me because I feel like I did the same if not worse. I am sooo scared of failing the NCLEX a second time. I dont know what I will do.

I want to know how much validity there is in the last question prediciting your pass/fail status on the test...

I can say right now I am pretty darn sure I got the last question wrong. I felt like the last question was hard. You tell me what you think:

The last question was talking about a patient in Buck's traction who had a compressed Peroneal nerve and wanted to know what a sign of this would be. I dont remember all the choices. But, I basically chose the choie that had something to do with the Achilles Tendon. I dont know about anyone else, but I have never even learned about the Peroneal nerve. But after looking it up on the net, I belive the answer was problems dorsiflexing the foot.

Thanks, LuvLotB

Well, relax take it easy. You may have done better than what you think and I will pray for you. I have read in Kaplans book that if question 265 is above the level needed for passing if it is a difficult question other than a simple knowledge or comphrension and more of the analysis or application type question then you pass. RELAX, take deep breath, go see a movie, read a book, rent movies. DO SOMETHING to OCCUPY your time and it will go much faster. I know easier said then done. I am re-taking my exam for the second time On October 21st which is coming up Tuesday. I already have my days plan for after the test Tuesday and Wedensday so I can keep myself occupied. I live in a state where we can get unofficial online or by phone results in 2 days so I will know by next week if I passed or not unofficially but they say those are generally the right results.

Any way, I will send good vibes your way. SMILE!!!!!!!

LuvlotB, I too just took the NCLEX on Thursday for 2nd time and got all 265 questions. I felt pretty confident going through the test with a lot of priority, some delegation and cohorting patients. My second to last question was a priority and my last question was what would a nurse assess for in a patient with low potassium- i think i got it right- i put irregular pulse. I don't know however if the last question proves whether you pass or fail. I however have not heard of peroneal nerve- that does seem like a tough question- I guess it's just one of those that you have to understand the pathyophysiology for.

Good luck ; I'll be thinking of you. I myself am nervous though waiting for the results. Best wishes!

Christine

LuvlotB, any word on the results yet? Thinking of you.

Christine

Oh, it is so good to know that i am not alone. i took my board in Aug and failed. i retake it next month. I'm really scared. Where would you even look up a peroneal nerve..maybe in the peds book under bucks traction. i would agree with you, Christine, on the potassium: irregular pulse..low k+ causes arrythmias, high K+ will knock the conduction system out completely: heart failure. What were some of your other options?

LovlotB, when you said that you got 265 agian, did you mean that you got the same identical questions or 265 different ones...that would be discouraging for me because if i had the same questions i might still answer the same way. It's a scarey thought!

TLS,

I did pass my exam the 2nd time :) In response to what you were saying about getting all teh same 265 questions again, youcan't. The computer remembers what questins you got the last time and will not give you any repeat questions. I only had 78 questions the first time and 265 the 2nd. Good luck as you prepare for the NCLEX! You can do it!

Christine
