Hello,

I just graduated May 2011 from a BSN Program. I didn't even take my NCLEX yet. Probably not until September. My question is...should i get a CNA??? Do you guys know if I can just take their test or do I have to do a whole program for that?

I really need money, and nobody wants to hire me as a nursing assistant. They want a CERTIFIED nursing assistant.

Please help!

I'm from the bay area.....

You are an RN and you want to get your CNA? o_O Take your NCLEX and start job hunting for an RN job.

Apparently you can't even be a CNA anymore if you're an RN. You're overqualified.

Why are you waiting so long to take NCLEX? The longer you wait the more the chance of you passing goes down. Those that take it right away have the best chance of passing. I graduated May 10th and took and Passed NCLEX. I have had my Lic for 10 days now and have applied for numerous jobs. Here you can't apply until you have your lic. and an RN pays a lot more then a CNA.

Amen, Take your NCLEX and start getting applications out ASAP.

Yeah...why in the world are you waiting so long??? The one girl in my class that took months off to study is the one girl that failed NCLEX. All of us that took it right away passed with flying colors. No one would hire you as a CNA anyway...they would not want to hire someone knowing that you will just quit as soon as you get an RN job.

Specializes in MS, Tele, CM, Informatics.

Go head and apply for RN positions. While you are studying for the board. HAVE YOU APPLIED TO THE BOARD YET? I know my college had everyone apply before leaving. Continue to study for NCLEX....THE LONGER YOU WAIT THE PASS RATE GOES DOWN. Try to take too take it within a month. Study 2-3 hrs aday until you take it. It might take a month or 2 to get a job. Remember alot of training programs at hospitals don't start until JULY/ August in many cases for new grads. So look at where you want to work, and where you are willing to work. WHERE YOU CAN REACH YOUR GOALS...WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN TWO YEARS...AND TRY TO GEAR YOURSELF TOWARDS THE STEPS IN THAT DIRECTION. Keep your head up nursing school isn't easy and you did it!!!! So go get your license...and shine on.
