I feel depressed...

I have yet to graduate this May but I started applying for new grad residencies a couple months ago. All I have received is rejection emails.

I am currently working at a dream hospital on a unit that I absolutely love.

Although I am piling on 18 credits I am working part time nights for a mere chance of getting my foot in the door and building my resume.

I sent my manager an email recently to which came no response.

I was also an extern at another dream hospital but my manager stopped answering my emails.

My classmates and close friends are saying that I should give it some time,

wait until I get my license... but I know things will not look brighter post graduation among this ginormous pool of new grad nurses.

I'm also in a difficult financial situation because my dad passed away this past December and my mom is sick. My sister still has to go to college... Pressure is on me to find a job, become stable and provide for my sister and mom. Being an immigrant with no other relatives in the States, I feel alone... and depressed.

Thank you for letting me vent. Now I'll go put some cold water on my face before my eyes get puffy and red...

I understand what you are going through and it is hard to see past the immediate hurdles that seem impossible to overcome. I have been in your position before and know how challenging it can be to remain positive. Try your best to keep a positive outlook and be patient. You will get hired exactly where you should be. I have a few friends who have recently graduated from RN school and have already been hired so that should give you some hope.

Don't be afraid, be strong! You are not alone. We are here for you. You have worked hard to get to the place you are today. Be proud and know you are a valuable asset to the industry and let that confidence shine through.

M heart goes out to you. You have so much on your shoulders...too much. I'm so sorry you lost your father. It may be that you just need to get your license, then jobs may open up.

This too shall pass! Just keep doing what you're doing. It sounds like you are doing the best you can with what you have...afterall, that's all you can do! Getting your foot in the door is a wonderful way to open up opportunities for a career after you finish school. I think you are doing great by being proactive. For now though, just try to focus on passing your classes and taking good care of yourself during these stressful times. I will pray for you!

Email and phone calls work if you haven't met someone in person yet. Since you know both managers, stay after work and talk to your direct manager and go by the other hospital and request to talk to the other. Prayers for you

Hang in there. You will find employment at just the right time. You have so much to carry on your shoulders; your intentions are pure & honorable; God won't let you down. Focus on today, don't look ahead to tomorrow, a week from now, a month from now. It will only cause you fear. His blessings are new every, so can your outlook & faith. I was out of work for almost a year; now I am working part-time & getting more hours every day, closer to my initial full-time status. This wait will strengthen your faith & give you wisdom. "Tough time don't last, but tough people do." I know this is a cliche, but it is so true. my prayers to your & yours.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I finally spoke with my manager this morning.. She said she isn't looking to hire any new grads but she will think and consider hiring me because of my good reputation on the floor. She said to touch base with her again this Friday and I've got my fingers crossed! Thank you so much everyone.
