I can't get a job!!!!

Nurses New Nurse

Published

SO, I graduated from a very well known and elite ADN program in my area back in may 2013. I'm in my BSN program now. I took my NCLEX the first time June 11th(the day after my 22nd birthday) and failed making it through all 265 questions in 3.5 hours!! Needless to say, I put off taking it again out of embarrassment and such. But, I retook it January 28th and passed. After almost 2 freaking months(!!!!!!!!!) The NJ board of nursing assigned me my license number and off on the Job Search I go.

I have been applying almost everywhere, excluding nursing homes as it is not where I want to be. I've had no bites and a lot of emails saying "we're sorry to inform you, that even though your resume is impressive, we cannot offer you a position at this time. Someone with more experience is being considered" GRRRRRR!!!

Any advice!!! I'm in southern NJ.

I applied everywhere, and I do mean EVERYWHERE. I live about 45 mins from Nashville, and applied everywhere I could within an hours radius and when nothing happened started my search even further out. Finally found a job at my local hospital after over 7 months of applying :/

Just wishing you lot of luck in landing that first job.

But - IMPORTANT - if you are using your own picture & name here on AN, please change it to something more anonymous. Protecting your identity is important in all social media, but here on AN, it is essential due to potential professional issues that can arise, including information that you may not want to make available to potential employers.

Thank you for the tip. I didn't think of it that way.

Try to have patience. Like others have said it really hasn't been that long. I graduated in Dec. 2013 and passed boards in January and I put in 100s (literally) of applications and was frustrated many nights but finally someone "gave me a chance" and I start on the 14th of this month. Keep your head up and keep at it! You will get something!
