Is personal nursing a must have? I remember my nursing instructors recommending it, but they never said where to get it. Anyone know any good companies with affordable rates.

I have heard different opinions on this one. A few people told me that if you have it, you could be named in a suit because you are covered by , which equals MONEY for the defendant (?). These people have told me this reason is why they do not have malpractice insurance. I am going to get it. My friend just told me about a website: http://www.nso.com

They offer up top $6,000,000 of coverage for $89/year, which is due at the time you sign up. If you have graduated within the past year, then instead of $89, you pay $45 to sign up. Good luck.

Insurance is cheap and tax deductable. Just being named in a lawsuit can cost thousands to retain a lawyer. Just stay within your scope of practice and NSO will protect you for 89 bucks a year!

It's a must have.

If for no other reason than most policies provide attys for board issues.

Just take a look around this site and you will see nurses that have or are having their lives turned upside down over having to defend themselves at a board hearing.

Boy, that 110/yr I spend is worth it just to know that if I have to go to the board, I won't have to sell my house to hire an atty.
