Call from a Nurse Recruiter!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got a phone message from a nurse recruiter and she just said she wanted to ask me some questions about my application I am a little anxious until the weekend is over and I just want to know if that is a little good news. I have applied for so many jobs this is the first time that I ever got a call back and I just want to know if I should have a little hope or not?

Of course you should have a little hope. Having a recruiter call to follow-up on your application is a lot better than having the recruiter ignore your application.

Prepare to answer a few questions and enjoy the weekend.

what kind of questions do you think i should be prepared for? i am so nervous i hope i don't mess it up?

Have answers to these questions prepared: your strengths and weaknesses, why you want to be a nurse, why you want to work for that particular hospital/organization, why you should be chosen for this particular position, know what unit you prefer to work on and why and also let the recruiter know that you're flexible. Have a brief 30 second sales pitch prepped if she asks you "tell me about yourself". And just in case you call and she/he does not pick up, have a voice message prepared ahead of time...and remember to smile whiles you talk on the phone with the recruiter...always makes one sound much warmer and more personable. So sad didn't get the job and don't know why before they even talked to me the position was offered to somone else. I am a little sad about it but what could you do that's life. I just got to keep trying and hope for the best.

Keep her in mind, shoot her an email thanking her for making contact and politely ask that she consider you for other positions.

I have the same problem like RN4S22 , i applied at lots of positions at lots of places. Once a nurse recruiter called from LTC and left message after that i called her so many time, left messages , but no one got back to me. Last week I again recieved a message from a nurse recruiter for OR residency program i called her latter and left message two day continously but no one called me back. I have now started feeling that i will never be able to get a job in hospital ( i feel so frusturated ) i do not sound to be desperate .... i do not know what i should do ????

I had a similar experience. I am not a new grad, FWIW. The nurse recruiter called but I was not able to talk at the time. I had honestly thought it was my husband calling me while I was dealing with an issue with our child and I didn't look at the caller ID. I called her the next day and got voicemail, left a message. Several days go by and no call back. I called again a few days ago and still nothing. Needless to say, I am not holding my breath.

I once had a hospital hiring manager call me for a CNA job while I was in nursing school. She left a message on my phone asking me if I wanted the job, and left her phone number. When I heard the message I was like "HECK YEAH! I want the job!" I called her right away. No answer. I left a message. No call back. I called her several day in a row, left messages, but it was like she dropped off the face of the earth. It was soooo weird.. and from a magnet hospital no less.

Needless to say, I never heard from her again.
