Hi,

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to take ACLS before passing the nclex and getting a license. I graduated on May 20th and have applied to the state BON and I'm waiting for the ATT. I would like to take it while I am waiting. If anyone has any information on this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yes, you can take ACLS before you're licensed -- I think your BLS just has to be current. I took ACLS as an EMT-B in 2002, which was before I even had my paramedic cert. http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=3011972

Thanks so much. Do you know where is the best place to take it? I've tried looking for classes in my area, but I just keep finding online courses. Should I try some of the hospitals?

Yep, you don't want to be doing online yet -- that is for recertification in a couple of years. :) Local hospitals and local EMS/rescue squads are a good resource. Or try this link:

Thanks! I will do that.

Some employers will help pay for the ACLS course and certification if it's required for the position. :)
