Excelsior lpn to rn transitions 2014

Just wondering if anyone has had any success using the SG 101 material to pass this exam recently. I took the EC practice exams and am SURE that quite a bit of information was not covered from that source. I have studied the SG 101 extensively and memorized the dates, people, ect. Some of the test material I never saw before. Are textbooks required for recent study?

I made a C on this test. And I was shocked that I passed it. I studied every date and every person memorized. I didn't have one question about any date, no acronyms, or person. I had tons of select all questions. I bought the two books recommended, but I had mainly the stuff I skimmed over on the test. Go by the study guide! That's all I can tell you to do. And good luck!

Also let me just say that just because my test didn't have dates or names doesn't mean yours won't. There's like 6 different tests ( heard thru the grape vine) and good luck!

I used sg101 for transitions and all my exams so far, it covered everything from the regular textbooks that are recommended by excelsior. No one ever really passes the paid practice exams. I heard they put 'test' questions on them. I think I scored like a 68 and 72 on the practice exams and passed. Excelsior does put questions on their exams that you will not be able to find in the textbooks that they tell you to read but i found that the extras from sg101 usually cover those.

I didn't use the SG 101 until after I did the nursing exams. Back then, the sciences could be taken at any time; so I saved them until the very end. (That's when I found out about SG101).

Anyway, as little FYI, EC sometimes derive questions from the rationales of the multiple choices. This is why we often suggest studying not only the correct responses and answers, but also the incorrect responses and their rationales (from all sources, even those at the end of the content guide;)).

Did you take your exam yet?

I just took mine today and passed with a C. Just like Nibbles1 I did not think I passed! I thought it was harder than my nursing boards. I took both practice test just to see what areas I needed more focus on and both exams I had in the 60s.

I have study guide 101 but I did not review it as much as I did the text and study guides. Basically just used it as an additional resource.

i am getting ready to take the transition to the professional nurse role on thursday this week and i am really scared i didn't score to well on the practice exams but i am continuing to study using the study guide and the book listed on the outline... does anyone have any other suggestions?

PASSED WITH A B!!!!!! Took the exam today and boy was it packed with everything you could imagine. Glad it's over. Thanks for the tips.
