Excelsior lpn to rn transitions 2014

Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

Just wondering if anyone has had any success using the SG 101 material to pass this exam recently. I took the EC practice exams and am SURE that quite a bit of information was not covered from that source. I have studied the SG 101 extensively and memorized the dates, people, ect. Some of the test material I never saw before. Are textbooks required for recent study?

Thanks in advance for any help. :nailbiting:

i am getting ready to take the transition to the professional nurse role on thursday this week and i am really scared i didn't score to well on the practice exams but i am continuing to study using the study guide and the book listed on the outline... does anyone have any other suggestions?

The EC Study Guide, SG 101, and the books listed online cover the information and the understanding of it. To me, the test had so much comprehensive stuff on it. I thought it was difficult. Other people may comprehend that amount of info differently, so it may have been easier to them. I don't retain theory stuff too well. My advice would be to take your time and understand the dates, the organizations, the practice exams, and the delegation material. Atleast that's what I did and I had a lot of that material on the exam. Hope this helps.

Did you take your exam yet?

I just took mine today and passed with a C. Just like Nibbles1 I did not think I passed! I thought it was harder than my nursing boards. I took both practice test just to see what areas I needed more focus on and both exams I had in the 60s.

I have study guide 101 but I did not review it as much as I did the text and study guides. Basically just used it as an additional resource.

Good luck!

PASSED WITH A B!!!!!! Took the exam today and boy was it packed with everything you could imagine. Glad it's over. Thanks for the tips.

Congrats on the B!!! I take mine tomorrow I'll let you know how I do! I've been going Over and over the content guides religiously and over all the chapters in the 2 requires texts... I have not used SG101 can someone explain to me what that is I'm not familiar with it at all.

Thanks for all the tips everyone

Thanks, hope you do well on your exam tomorrow! The SG 101 is a study guide CD that I purchased on ebay. There may be other sources to purchase it through that I'm just not familiar with. It has content geared toward studying the Excelsior courses. :)

Took Transition on October 16th and...PASSED IT!:) All thanks and praises to God. I didn't use the practice exams for this one, but I WOULD NOT recommend anyone to to that. This exam was way too bland to take without the practice exams. Best of success to you all!

I didn't necessarily find it hard. I just had been looking at the material for sooo long, I think I was over it. I'm glad it's done with:D I am working on the Health Safety exam. I haven't really looked at Foundations so I couldn't tell you which direction to go in on that exam. I do love what I am seeing, as far as ,the changes made in the Content Outlines provided by Excelsior:up: I cannot express how much I have missed care planning.
