Hi, just graduated from EC Nursing program with my Associates in Applied Sciences (due to a few electives that I have previously taken they said this was a better fit) and I am wondering if there are any EC grads out there with the AAS that have gone on to do an RN-BSN program? I was wondering if the credit transfer is the same or if there are any extra loops I am going to have to go through? I am looking Excelsior's RN-BSN, 's RN-BSN and also Texas Tech RN-BSN, but I am open to any other school suggestions as long as they are completely online and affordable!! I do not want to do any brick and mortar school, now that I have graduated from a distance program I love it and I don't wanna ever sit in a classroom again LOL!!! Any info would be sooo appreciated!!!

Since you just finished EC, get them to do a courtesy eval for the BSN program. They already have your transcripts and they told me once I graduate I can get a eval done and not have to pay the 75 fee again. Congrats on graduating! Good luck on your next challenge!

I just talked to an admission counselor @ EC on the phone a few days ago and she didn't mention this, so thank you! I will call back after the holidays and ask for it! I remember the CA at the CPNE telling me something about the BSN program but now it feels like forever ago and I was crying so much I wasn't listening anyways. :-)

I can't believe I am thinking about school again... but might as well do it while I'm motivated, it seems to be the way nursing is going I guess.

I remember reading about your progress for the past few months, so glad you made it thru! I had asked for a courtesy eval a few weeks back and told them I wanted to start the BSN program immediately after the ASN program (planning on Feb/March completion) but they said I needed to finish this first and they would do a courtesy eval after I complete the CPNE.

I am torn between the same programs you are but UTA requires alot of things that I don't think I have or they won't take what I have, since alot of my credits are via straighterline. But EC will. I like the look of but am unsure of the quarter hour effect, however I know that I will only go as high as a masters in my career. I have no interest in going further.

Good luck with everything and congrats again in your success!

I talked with EC about this same subject last week Beachie, and the adviser told me that EC doesn't do the BSN Eval anymore, if you get any more info, let me know what you find out. I am having them send me info on RN>Masters/Clinical Specialist to look at first  My CA told me something about "If you register by January....tuition....credit transfer....???" I was in the same state as you and I thought I had grabbed all that he said, but clearly, didn't. :lol2:

I miss you girls.......

Happy Thanksgiving friend! Give me a call this weekend if you are not working! :)

@BeachieRN84 Have you applied to a RN-BSN program and received acceptance? I have not heard back from a few schools after submitting my application. I am wondering if this has something to do with the fact that my ASN is from Excelsior?

I'm an EC grad, and I didn't have any issues. I was accepted everywhere I applied. I think schools are getting a bit overwhelmed with applicants ... I suspect a lot of unemployed/underemployed new grads are doing RN-BSN completion programs to become more competitive.

@LunahRN have you started or completed a BSN program after graduating from EC? If so may I ask where you applied or were accepted to?

Yes, I completed my BSN in 2010 with Chamberlain College of Nursing. I was also accepted to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and Slippery Rock University. I know people who have completed BSN programs elsewhere ... I think you'll find most schools just want you to have the RN, and it won't matter that it's from EC. However, if you did your A&P and Micro through EC (exams), you might have to repeat those due to the lack of a lab component with EC's exam-based format.
