Hello. I'm a nurse and real estate broker in Connecticut. Is anyone here interested/involved in supportive or transitional housing for the mentally ill? Statistics show that the mentally ill are languishing within nursing homes to a expense of $50,000.00-$80,000.00 per year to support their housing. I'd like to hear more from those that are interested and know about this type of population and issues revolving around housing the mentally ill.

I am not familiar with this type of housing professionally but I do see it in my current community. Perhaps you could start with the Dept of Human Services in your area and see what options are currently avialable. You could customize what is available to what you see the needs are that are not being met.

You may be familiar with writing a Business Plan already but I thought I should mention that to you (just in case). In writing a Business Plan, you would research feasibilites etc.

I am envious of your two specialties; it will make a great marriage in this endeavor of housing the mentally ill. Plus, I am embarking on house hunting a home to purchase for the first time in my lapse of being a renter for several years (ugh)...

Please keep in touch and let us know how your project is going.
