Why not. . .go for it. Never know where it will lead.

Yes that would be a good part time job. And you would also have experience in teaching which is always good for your future endeavors. Good luck! :)

Seeing as I am paying $75 for a Red Cross Healthcare professional card tomorrow, I'd say go for it! I plan on taking the instructor class after that.

I used to teach CPR/BFA, baby sitting safety, emergency O2, pet CPR/BFA, and blood borne pathogens for many years, but stopped 5 years ago after teaching over 1000 people. I still have my manikins, AED trainers, etc. and still have people call me for classes!

Hello there! I have been teaching American Heart CPR for the past 4 years. I teach part time with another nurse (she owns the business and has her own equipment) and would highly recommend it as a second job. I started off teaching BLS only, now I teach BLS, ACLS, PALS, and first aid. I work mainly in the Critical Care/ED environment and teaching helps me to keep my own skills fresh (very helpful in code situations to be up to date!). My suggestion to you would be to get certified as an instructor and then find another instructor locally who needs help with larger classes and start there. The equipment is a HUGE investment and in my opinion is not worth the cost unless you plan to teach full time.

i teach cpr when i'm off duty - just schedule the classes around your work schedule.

I just finished a CPR instructor course and am certified to teach BLS for Health Care Providers as well as Heartsaver CPR. If anyone on this board teaches CPR, can you PLEASE tell me if you had to purchase any type of liability or any type of insurance to protect yourself. This has been so hard to find out. I plan on teaching CPR independently as I don't have an agency that I work for presently. I will teach from my home, at designated locations, schools, daycare providers homes, employers offices etc.
