OMG! This is the fourth kidney stne Ive had in 2 yes 2 years, Im just about to die, I swear. They gave me fluids, did a ct, and gave me- A total of 10 MG Dilaudid IV, 30 ketrolac, and 25 of phenergan IV, I dont know why I keep getting these stones there horrible? I am finally relaxed from the meds though.:bugeyes::bluecry1:

I get kidney stones pretty frequently too. Toradol is my best friend. I really feel for you and I hope you are feeling better soon.

Sorry your going through this...I've felt your pain. Husband and son are frequent stone formers. Check out Litholink's Patient Education Center Their testing service helps doctors with patient mgmt too. Been helpful to my family.

Don't feel alone, by the time I was 30 I had 5 of them. However, during the last 14 years I only had two more. The last one was this X-Mas in the car on a drive to see my grandchildren, from Florida to Kansas, ouch.

I just make sure that I always drink lots of fluids, seems every time I slack off on the water intake, a new stone forms. I also have a great Doc who makes sure I have antispasmodics, antiemetics and painmeds with me anytime I leave town. So far I have passed all my stones on my own.

It seems to be a guy thing, although some of the ladies suffer as well.

Have they not found out what the stone is made up of?

Sometimes issues with Parathyroids can cause multiple stones etc.

Next time you are able to get one retrieved they need to do a Composite of it.

I do pray that you do not keep getting them. I have seen grown men resort to tears. *hugs* to you.

Just a question...I've heard that people with kidney stones have the "kidney stone dance" - that when you see someone in pain from a kidney stone, they walk a certain way....

What does it look like?

Well suffering from a bout of this a few weeks recent myself ...let me tell you about the kidney stone dance :)

hands on back , either or both sides or switch back and forth( depending on the pain of course) , next we are picking one foot up at a time just a little ways off the floor not to high about 6 inches , do each consectutive foot several times , then we bounce up and down at the knees several times in a few minute frame ( just trying to see if up straight might be better ,,,no wait maybe down ,,no wait up again NO neither wait lets try it again just to be sure... ok now throw a couple of spins in (not fast just a listless twisting )kinda like a dying dog chasing his tail !

Then you have one version of the Kidney Stone Dance 2008~ I think it is simply an effort ( in my case) to feel like you are least attempting to reduce the pain, and mostly it seems the average person simply cannot be still with this type of pain...my nurse you the exact term "kidney stone dance" to describe ot my doctor the amount of pain I was in , lol ,I could hear her through the curtain in the ER talking to my Dr...

"uhh oh we have one doing the kidney stone dance! we better get her something!"

You all have my sympathies!! I have some sort of hyperparathyroidism that they can't find on scanning/CT/X-ray, but which has contributed to repeated bouts with kidney calculi that have so far required four separate laser lithotripsies. I don't form mere stones, either---they're more like BOULDERS according to my urologist.

I do drink a lot of fluids, which seems to be helping somewhat as I haven't had a recurrence in over a year........knock on wood!

Thanks all! Youve all been really helpfull, there going to try to get a composite of this one if I ever pass it, oh the dilaudid is wonderful-lol, Ive hardly ever taken anything for pain except tylenol, motrin, or ASA. I know why the druggies like it so much its wonderfull-lol, I think I might develope an allergy to every narc. except dilaudid too-lol, Im just kidding, but I can understand why they like it so much. Im in love with the toradol also, I cant understand why the junkies dont like it lol. Toradol is a best friend to anyone with stones. Anyway they have me on 4 mg Dilaudid tabs 1 or 2 q 4-6hs. prn pain, Toradol 30 mg tabs 1 q 6h., Ibuprofen 600 mg 1 q 6h, Bactrim DS, and Phenergan 25 Mg tabs 1 q 6h prn nausia. So Im flying high and feeling wonderfull.-lol

Theyve decided there going to do lithotripsy under mac anesthesia- I know this specific doc he usually gives demerol, versed, atropine, benadryl, and a little propofol, there also going to put stints in, but what Im worried about is when the stent come out-lol-ouchhhhhh!!!!!!

Having stents was the worst part of the whole thing for me. Taking 'em out was about as uncomfortable as having a Foley cath D/C'd.....it wasn't fun, but they felt a lot better out than in! Some people aren't bothered by the stents though, so don't judge the experience by me.

last june I passed a very tiny thing the size of half a grain of rice. the pain nearly killed me. i sat in the emergecy room from 10 pm until 7am the next morning unseen by a doc. no pain killer, no care at all. they acused me a being a drug seeker. i never even asked for drugs. imagine this pain in a little wooden seat all alone. :bluecry1::bluecry1::bluecry1::bluecry1::bluecry1:
