Im so sorry you had that experience Aye, that wouldve never happened in my er. I definitely know the difference between the real thing and the drug seekers, seeing as how Ive had stones quit frequentley and now am on my fourth, there horrible, I would rather have a colonoscopy done while Im awake then have another stone. Thanks for all your input all!! Im also having a cystoscope done wed., which I know this doc this is the one thing he doesnt put anyone out for, the cystoscope, which is great not as if Im in enough pain already-lol, Im going to take my pain meds and phenergan before I go then Ill definitely be snockered.-lol

Good luck on the cysto. I've had one done recently with the state of the art equipment. Not bad at all. I had no meds and came through just fine. I insisted his female assistant not be present, and the doc was fine with that. Made it easier for me.:) The assistant was not happy, oh well...:chuckle

Alright all, Im having my procedures done today Ill let you all, know how it goes!

I hated my stents. You know the feeling you get in your throat when you first get sick -- it hurts, itches and tickles all at the same time and you cannot do anything that will make it stop? That's what the stents felt like to me.

Taking them out was a piece of cake, they shoot water into you and pull the stents out, as well as put some numbing stuff too.

Be sure you ask the doc what kind of stone it is and what foods may contribute to the cause.

I had three kidney surgeries in three months, lthotripsy, nephrostomies and finally opened up the kidney and cleaned it out & irrigated it with an ocean of fluids, each time the stones were larger and uglier. It's been a year since the last one and I have had no more, oh thank you God!!!!

Hope your procedure goes well, and that you feel better soon!!!!

Hey all, I just got home, it wasnt nearly as bad as I thought it would be, they gave me consious sedation for the lithotripsy and the cystoscopy, demerol and versed and benadryl, and a little phenergan for nausea, they also gave me some dilaudid in the recovery room.

Im still really sleepy. Im going back to bed in a minute. They broke the stone up and retrieved the pieces, there going to send them to be analyzed, they also put in the stents, it was really quick only felt like I was in the procedure room for 10 mins. the wonders of meds lol.:p:yeah:

Hydration is the number one thing to do to prevent stones. At least 2 liters of water a day. Also drink coco cola... the acid will easily dissolve

oxalate stones.....kev

Very bad advice, sorry, but colas are VERY high in oxalates, second only to tea. My urologist told me he'd kick my rear end if he ever caught me drinking diet coke again. Fresca, however, is high in potassium citrate, which does dissolve oxalate stones.
