I didn't have time to read it all as I've got to get some last-minute cramming in for finals, but thought some of this board might find it interesting....I'm so interested in ED after graduation, but sometimes articles like this make it sound like a pretty scary place!!

yes, some eds ARE like that. be careful when taking a sign on bonus at places like this! they lure new nurses in with the promise of "big bucks" when there's no amount of money you can pay for this type of work! even if i was offered $200k, i wouldn't work there myself.

we should email this to the press ganey gang. let them chew on the reality of health care and not their "4 season's" wannabe image!

well that is an interesting article.i am glad i don't live in georgia but not all eds are like that .all eds do have some of the same issue as resources funding overcrowding and diversion.its sad grady is in such bad shape.

The unfortunate situation is that many emergency rooms are experiencing overcrowding, diversion issues, and pt boarding. I have worked in two different Level 1 hospitals, one in KY and one in PA. The article on Grady sounded very similar to the situation at both of these hospitals as far as the ER was concerned.

The situation is quite distressing but it certainly is good journalism.
