Last time someone came in was two hrs ago and that was a tech. And the nurse was rude. About to lose my patience! But I will not!!!!!!!

As you are able to post, I assume that you are not the patient? I think it's more stressful to be with a loved one who is hurting than to be hurt ourselves. Wishing you all the best.

Thanks. Yeah, with mom's. I'll be good till my droid goes dead, then I might lose it!

;)

Cut the "rude" nurse some slack. S/he has probably been dealing with seven varieties of ******** all day long.

I have literally walked out of a resuscitation where the patient didn't make it, gone across the hall to check on my other patient, only to be greeted by a complaint about the wait, while someone else just lost a father/husband/brother (and I haven't even had time to process my own feelings about it, because you don't get to do that in the ED; you just keep going). Seriously. If the doctors and nurses aren't hovering over your loved one, then they are not the sickest person there, and you should be thankful. The sickest people there are actively dying. That's why it's called the "Emergency" Department.

Having said that, I hope your loved one will be okay.

Yeah, thanks for the lecture stargazer, but I am not a complete idiot. Perhaps you should thoroughly look through my posts here. I was clearly bored. And even though we sat there for 6 hrs for a rx for muscle relaxer, I still was nice. So save the speech for someone else :)

And thank you, she is fine. Just chronic pain for life exacerbated by doing to much because someone wasn't paying attention whilst driving.

Well, aren't you just a peach? You're welcome.

Sending positive vibes to you and your moms. They do sell hand cranks for cell-phones in case your battery does die on you, but I think it's a lot of cranking for a couple of minutes. Perhaps not worth it.

I know, sorry not too peachy right now. But the nurse that was rude was not our actual nurse. However I was still nice to both because I know someone could have been dying in the next room. Trust me, I know. My dad went to the ER a yr ago and was so upset because he waited for 6 + hrs and ended up losing his finger-which was nothing compared to the family that lost their infant while he was waiting. Kind of puts things into perspective.

Thanks. It just sucks when you have to live your life in pain because someone wasn't paying attention. she has 6 pinched nerves in her neck now. And yesterday she could barely walk, today she was having back to chest pain, so we went to rule our cardiac issues. Her K+ was 2.9, but they said the pain down her leg and arm and back around to the sternum was probably due to the nerve issue. Gave her more drugs and sent us on our way! One Rx she already has from her PCP. It's frustrating, but we are surviving. Could have been worse, she could be paralyzed or even worse. But still living in pain is no fun, especially when it is made worse from just having your grandkids spend the night.

Exacerbations of chronic pain are typically a 4-5 hour wait to be seen in my ER. Usually no prescriptions, just the notorious "3 to go" ... but if a provider does write a script it will be for a maintenance med, not a new regimen.

yeah she got a Rx for vicodin which she already has an on going script for, and a muscle relaxer. It was a 6 hour trip. Atleast I spent good quality time with mom! They probably thought we were faking because I had her cracking up the whole time!
