Do I have a sign over my head?

I think I've pushed/hung more Mannitol in the past three shifts than I have in the past three years!

Makes me feel like there's a black cloud over my head with a sign saying "send all traumatic bleeds to this nurse please! He loves 'em!" :uhoh3:

A couple months ago, I had 4 codes in one shift (the first one wasn't even MY patient and wasn't even in the department!) The organ procurement agency person even commented when I called the 4th time that night "You AGAIN?"!

I know things come and go in waves but seriously, I'd like a break from this bad streak please! Flu season I coming up and I'm not looking forward to being armpit deep in sepsis shift-in-and-out!

cheers,

If your hemoglobin is below 5, you have tissue paper for a colon, and you manage both hemochezia and hematemesis at the same time, or decide to pop an esophageal varice and Nerd's on shift in the ER or ICU...come on down!

Seems as if I've attracted the testicular trauma recently. One unlucky fellow got in a fight with an angry woman and then another one accidently shot himself... In the "groWin". I'm no detective but I suspect a woman! Mwahah! The scrotal lac is the one that got the best of me though. Had to clean and DRESS the WOUND for transport! Yeah... They dont teach you ball dressings in school, unless I just missed that day! Lets just say everyone had jokes the remainder of the time I was at that facility. What adds to the humor, or at least I think does is the fact I had just finished helping with a successful code so I went from being on the top of the world as a lifesaver to the lowest pit as ball washer! lol

I had one of those once.....a guy sustained a scrotal laceration, avulsion really, when his testicles were used as the means to remove him from his girlfriend.....by her husband. When the guy asked me (as he was prepped for the OR) if his "funstion" will return......something evil overtook me and I replied "Well physically I'm sure everything will be fine but emotionally....well that's another story......LOL"
