I was wondering if anyone had some great Thanksgiving CCs. I'm not talking about the positive suitcase sign grandma dropoffs, or the heartburn CP, or the drunks or the family related anxiety, but the ones actually related to the turkey or pies or that made you smile.

I had one last evening. 80+ yo came in due to "startled when pie dropped on foot causing her to jump then fall onto her R knee; now has a lac" :)

Have a great Thanksgiving!

How about, "Ooo, I think I've been poisoned, or I ate too much, drank too much, have CHF & had the ham again & now have to get lasix & a f/c".....blah, blah, blah.

One year I worked Triage the day before Thanksgiving & while talking with patients, I would casually mention that the day AFTER Thanksgiving was frequently our busiest because of all the people who came in with those very complaints. That day was NOT as busy as usual, so I wonder if my comments had any influence....

Lady lifted turkey out of the oven, strained back.

Guy was shopping at Wal-Mart this morning, dropped down unconscious in the middle of an aisle with a ruptured aneurysm. Goes to show wal-mart really is evil. He'll be OK though... thank goodness. He is only 35.

Stroke symptoms that started while mashing potatoes ...

Yes, there was also the SOB after consuming 1/2 a turkey w/all the fixins .... ya think? And the got drunk & fell down & went boom.

When I worked as a tech at a suburban ER we had a cluster of patients on Christmas morning ... minor lacs & such sustained while playing w/new power tools. :chuckle

I worked triage on Thanksgiving Day and it seemed to be fall down and go boom day. In a 6 hour period we had 5 fractured wrists and 1 fractured arm. The strangest one though was the young woman who had rushed to the only open grocery store at the last minute to get another turkey for her dinner after she ruined the first one. She came into triage with her husband and his parents sobbing with a broken hand that she got when she dropped a 20lb frozen turkey on her hand at the grocery store. It turns out that it was her first time cooking the whole dinner for her inlaws. I felt sorry for her.

Just this minute I roomed and assessed a lady walking with a stooped gait and c/o back pain after "over-exerting self yesterday cooking and cleaning and lifting pots and pans". :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I (during my pre-wisened professional days) once lopped off most of the tip of my thumb, including part of the nail, while making mashed potatoes...Never found the missing piece, but everyone seemed to enjoy them anyway....

It is a wonder I don't get tendonitis from lifting my fork over the Holidays. Only place it seems to hurt is on the scale.

that's gross! my mum once grated a chunk off her finger while grating cheese for a cheese sauce. despite the missing bit undoubtedly being in the cheese, she continued with the sauce, served us dinner, and told us AFTER!

can you say scarred for life? i can!
