Nurses COVID

This has to be about Dr. Kent Brantly. If so it says he never had Ebola. So if he never had it then who is this supposed infected nurse getting blood transfusions from a cured ebola victim?

Earlier today the patient who was flown back to the United States from Sierra Leone and admitted to the NIH Clinical Center on September 28 for observation, following a high-risk exposure to Ebola virus infection, was discharged to his home. The patient has given NIH permission to release the following information: The high-risk exposure was a needle stick injury. The initial hospitalization was characterized by a brief period of fever that was subsequently determined to not be related to infection with Ebola virus. Because he had an exposure and a fever, there was a greater chance he had active infection, thus the reason for isolation. Currently, the patient feels well and has no fever. CDC guidelines are being followed and the patient will remain in his home, check his temperature twice a day, until the completion of a 21-day observation period from the time of reported exposure. No additional details about the patient are available at this time.

Second Ebola-infected nurse flown from Dallas to Atlanta for specialized treatment | Fox News

Makes me wonder why Nina Pham isn't being treated in Atlanta, too. Too unstable to fly? Family not pushing for it?

Nina Pham Has been sent home.Turned out all she had was the Flu.

What? Are you saying their lab screwed up and she never had Ebola? Do you have a source for that? Or are you joking?

Dallas Nurse Battling Ebola Says She's 'Doing Well' - ABC News There is no reputable news source stating that Nina Pham does not have Ebola, and the latest news story as of today is her boyfriend is supposedly under quarantine.

Please do not post unfounded rumors about Ebola. Double check your sources if you see something that doesn't look right.

Nina Pham received a transfusion with antibodies for ebola, and will probably do fine. I have not heard if the second patient had a compatible blood type to receive the same transfusion.

You have to realize that these hospitals are probably closing down most of one wing/part of a floor to care for one patient. I imagine the resources to take care of these patients properly is overwhelming.

Which hospitals? Dallas Presbyterian? Or Emory? What I've read about Dallas is the they were still expected to care for other patients while caring for Thomas Duncan. What I've read about Emory is that they already have special decontamination units.

Later today, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center expects to admit the first nurse who contracted the Ebola virus at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital while providing patient care to the index patient who died of Ebola. The nurse is being admitted to the Special Clinical Studies Unit of the NIH Clinical Center at the request of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. She will receive state-of-the-art care in this high-level containment facility, which is one of a small number of such facilities in the United States.

The NIH Clinical Center’s Special Clinical Studies Unit is specifically designed to provide high-level isolation capabilities and is staffed by infectious diseases and critical care specialists. The unit staff is trained in strict infection control practices optimized to prevent spread of potentially transmissible agents such as Ebola. No additional details about the patient are being shared at this time.

NIH is taking every precaution to ensure the safety of our patients, NIH staff, and the public.

Considering how long it would take to properly gown up, ungown, and decontaminate not to mention the fall out if another patient/family found out someone was taking care of an ebola positive patient at the same time as they were taking care of them just to save the hospital a few hundred dollars would be a giant catastrophe waiting to happen.
