On a happy note.......Dallas nurse Nina Pham who recovered from Ebola has been reunited with her dog Bentley, which was sequestered in early October after she became ill, and thanked those who took care of him.

I was sooo happy to see this, to see them both come through it and be reunited again. I love my dog, and I can only imagine how much Nina worried about him and missed him. When the whole thing started, someone said (I can't remember who) they understood how important Bentley was to Nina's well-being and recovery. It's really a wonderful story, a bright spot in all of the bad news. It's really touching that he was cared for with such love. I'm sure it helped Nina a lot.

Too bad the Spanish authorities killed the nurse's dog Excalibur. I'm glad the Dallas authorities were smarter, and Bentley and Ms. Pham are reunited, and both in good health.

The AVMA recommends that "people with known exposure to Ebola give up their pets for 21 days or yield care duties to another member of their household."

Veterinarians urge separation of pets, people at high Ebola risk | TheHill

The AVMA document provides more information, stating that people under "direct active monitoring" should not have contact with pets or other animals.
