I still can't believe it.

OK, first of all I didn't even know this section was here. I had posted in another section and this area was mentioned, I went rushing to find it. It took me awhile, but by golly I found you guys!!!! Ya little stinkers.

I am just finishing up VN school and from day one wanted to be a pediatric Nurse. About the 4th month into school, I went on my rotation to Dyalisis. I was not to excited about going, but it wasn't like I didn't want to do this rotation either. So I was open minded and was ready to take lots of notes. I was there all of 5 minutes and I knew, I really did, I knew in my heart that Dyalisis would be where I would land "someday". I had no idea, I would be going fresh out of school.

Yup, I said fresh out of school, I can't believe it, I am extatic. I ended up talking to this Dialysis Center "just for fun" ya know to kind of find out what it would take to become a Dialysis nurse. Walked out with a job offer. I wanted to accept it that day, but I went home, thought it over did some research and realized how fortunate as an future LVN to even get an offer like that. Called her back and I graduate on the 19th of August and start working the 22nd. YAY!!!!

Some of my classmates have asked why all the excitement. They think it is boring, to redundant. I realized the day that I did my rotation, that these people have a choice. They can either spend the rest of their life, going every other day to Dyalisis for 4 hours or they can spend a very short time with their families before they die. Can you imagine how they must feel?

Anyhow enough of the blabbering, on with the learning.

Look forward to getting to know everyone.

Wow I am so glad to hear about someone who is excited about dialysis.

I am a nursing student still in the prerequisite phase, but I am very interested in dialysis. I hope you continue to post about your progress on the job.

Congratulations!

Congratulations! I've been a dialysis tech for over a year now. It is a neat area in which to work. I've enjoyed it, although I don't plan on continuing in dialysis after I graduate nursing school. (I may return later, but want to get some experience in other areas.)

It's good to hear someone so excited about it, though! It can be very rewarding!

CONGRATULATIONS Nurseinthemaking!!!! I am new nurse as well; graduated in May. I love working in dialysis...I hope I continue to love it...and YES it's great to hear from someone who is just as excited about dialysis as I am. Good luck on boards!

Thank you. I am excited to have classes done, next week I am going to attend an Nclex review for 2 days. I am not sure on the date I take my boards, but just the word, "boards" makes my stomache roll. Nerves, Nerves, Nerves.

I have been doing tons of searching about Dialysis, so I should be able to answer any of those questions. :roll

Hi nurseinthemaking,

Nursing student here; would love to work as a dialysis nurse after graduation & boards. I liked your article so much..............WOW!

You are really lucky to have this kind of lovely offer right after grad. Hey, tell me how was your first day like? & How was your preceptor like? :uhoh3:

Good luck for your boards! :balloons:
