You've said a couple of things that concern me. First, NEVER give a med that you did not draw up and label yourself. That is just putting yourself at too much risk. Even if the PCT label's it heparin; what if he/she actually drew up Lidocaine instead.....you do NOT want this to happen. Second, NEVER document something you did not do, and do not have someone else document something for you. This is not safe; there could be miscommunications etc...especially with an unlicensed employee. Our PCTs can give, Heparin, Lidocaine (1% ID only), NS, and O2. They can stick, put on, and take off. They cannot access catheters or perform dressing changes. They can initiate tx on catheters, but they cannot connect or disconnect bloodlines with catheters. Again, if they are giving the med, they have to draw it up, if you give it, you draw it up. Never put yourself, your license, or the patient's wellfare at risk by giving a med drawn up by another person, nurse, PCT, whatever. People make mistakes; they may have meant to draw up heparin, but drew up Lidocaine instead. Make your OWN mistakes, not someone else's.

WELCOME! I just graduated from CTC in May. CTC has both the LVN and RN program as well as an LVN-RN bridge. It's an ADN program, so if you want to go straight for your BSN, Mary-Hardin Baylor is the closest...it's also a good program. You can get financial aid at CTC as long as you're enrolled at least half time (8 credit hours). Prereq's include A&P I, Psych, Integrated Software, Comp&Rhet I, Intro to Nursing. I recommend going to the website, and getting a copy of the degree plan; I strongly suggest taking as many (if not all) of the non-nursing courses before starting the program. Having your CNA license is good because I believe they recently made it a requirement. If you have further questions email me privately and I'll be happy to answer if I can.

HI ALL! I graduated May 6th, took the NCLEX June 21st and passed with 75 questions. I just started general nursing orientation, and will be working in dialysis. I am very excited to get started with my training, and anxious to see how hemodialysis really works. Good luck to those of you getting ready for the NCLEX. I know you can do it!

This is information my instructors provided in school. I did not validate what they said, but I figured they know what they're talking about. I was just hoping to help ease the mind of some very freaked out nurses-to-be...even if it's just a little. But it's still hard to tell because 15 of the questions aren't used anyway, and we don't know which are used and which aren't. I found that you have to believe in yourself and think positively...even when things don't go the way we want them, we can't lose our faith. I have learned this after several years of going back a forth with my faith. Anyway, good luck to all.

Each state is different on how fast you can get your results. In Texas we can pay 7.95 on line, and 9.95 by phone, 48hrs after we take it. I know there's nothing I can say to help you with the stressing....God knows no one could help me. But hang in there...it'll be worth it when you see your license number!

Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? Our school uses ERI..we had to pass with at least the national avg, in order to move on to the next semester. They also offered a week long review course at the end of the semester...we were required to take the course as it was a part of our clinical grade. 4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? I took the Test Tuesday, and got my results today (Thursday)--I passed Cost 7.95 for quick results online. 5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? I wasn't sure what to think...but I couldn't accept that the computer was 95% sure that I was incompetent at only 75 questions. 6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? yes

You're a veteran mom...you're a pro at it by now. There were several women in my nursing class who had baby's, one had 2...in a 2yr program, and graduated with a flying colors! It is definitely doable. Good luck!

One of my peers had to fill out and pay for a Declartory Order for something she did as a 14 yr old. There is no such thing as an expunged record according to the BNE, if you have anything other than a traffic ticket EVER, it's best to go to the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas at http://www.bne.state.tx.us/ You can get all the information you need. And it's best to get started as soon as possible; another one of my classmate's check took 2 years. By the way, they are both RN's now! Good luck

To tell you the truth I had no clue that Tarleton State had an LVN-BSN program. I know they do have an RN-BSN. It's 3 semesters long. There are many many prerequisites, probably about 2-3 years worth...depending on what you've already taken. I just graduated from CTC May 05. The program has an excellent reputation, especially among the healthcare facilities. I've been told many times by nurses, that they prefer the CTC students (after graduation) because CTC has so much more clinical time than the other institutions. Now I have not validated these comments, but this is the general census from my experience among, the hospitals in Temple. I have mixed feelings about the program, but I don't doubt that the instructors prepared me for the NCLEX. The program is by no means easy...you will have to work your but off, but it's all worth it in the end. Although I've been told by the former Director that they are full through fall 2006, I suggest, going to the Nursing Dept, and picking up an application. It will have all the information you need to be accepted. But get it in as soon as possible. This is a military town, so although they say they have a long waiting list, many people here move away. I got in by luck, because I was an alternate, and since someone had not replied to their letter of acceptance, I was called the morning of orientation to come in. Get the NET taken, and any other documents (shot records, etc) that are required turned in as soon as you can. Be sure to get all the prerequisites completed first, if you are still not accepted by those classes end, start taking as many of the non-nursing classes as you can. The program is tough and demanding, there are many people in my class who took those classes along with the nursing classes and succeeded, but I was not one of them, and I cringe at the thought of having to do it. I felt so exhausted with just the clinicals and the nursing classes, I don't know how I would have survived if I'd have had to take those other classes as well. HI guys. I just went through what you guys are going through--the waiting game--extremely torturous!! I took the test this past Tuesday. It stopped at 75 questions, and I wasn't sure if I should be ecstatic or feel doomed. I did pass. In regards to the select all that apply and the calculation questions, I was told by my nursing instructors that since these are the new alternate format questions, that they are still in the testing phase, and will not become a part of the scoring until sometime this fall. Getting these questions is not a reflection of how well or poor you were doing. As hard as it is...keep positive thoughts...if you didn't know what you were doing, you wouldn't have graduated. You're smart, and I'm sure will be great nurses. I'll pray for you. Good luck Elysse

I was doing the same thing for the past two days. I took the test on Tuesday. I stopped at 75 questions and I didn't know what to think. I kept telling myself that I couldn't believe that I did so badly that the computer was 95% sure that I was not competent. Getting a lot of prioritization questions is definitely and good sign. I got 4 select all that apply and 2 math questions. However, these are the new alternate format questions and are not considered in your score. These questions will not count toward your score until sometime this fall, they are still in the testing phase. I got my results today and passed. You're in my prayers...since I've been praying nearly every second of the day. I'm playing that waiting game and trying to keep my faith. You graduated nursing school--which is probably the toughest, most cutthroat training I believe anyone can go through--so I'm sure you did better than you feel right now...I know I feel the same way at times.
