MadisonsMomRN please tell me hpw to apply for Baltimore County Detention RN jobs. I went to the web sites and cannot find any information or postings. Thank you!

I"m a new grad, I talked to both the director and recruiting where i work, SVSP said i would start at the max rate.

Depends on the prison, not all california prisons will get paid what SVSP, CTF and San QUintin get paid.

Just like any other job, not everyone gets paid the same for the same job.

As much as it may hurt to hear, or **** people off, its the truth.

I could get hired at a hospital and get paid one thing, another person with more experience get paid less.

just like i will pay less for my new car than certain people.

why, because there is a range that can be negotiated.

someone can tell me how much a 2007 mustang costs on the envoice, or what they paid, does not mean i will pay that, i will get it for less.

Not all prisons in california pay the same, and one can negotiate pay within the range.

Again, i work here at the prison, I see people get hired, and i know what they are making.

People are not shy about what they make, as i have seen pay stubbs.

And i know what i have been told i will get paid, i will get the max.

across the street at CTF, perhaps i would not.

At donovan, perhaps i would get $7500, I don't know because i do not work there any more, i only know what i will get paid at SVSP.

We had new grad LVNs get max pay as MTA's when we still had them, while i'm sure there were MTA's with 4 years at another prison saying its impossible, since they don't get paid max.

Everyone does not have the same hand, or play with the same deck.

the page linked shows the range as 7760-8990 a month.

even if they start me at 8000 a month, thats still 96 a year without OT, and i'm going to start more than that, how am i not accurate?

8000 is mid level range, nothing special, yet still 96 a year.

Is my math wrong?

at 8990 a month i will be making 107,000 a year, and if i don't get the max even though that is what all the bosses and other nurses tell me, i will get 8000 a month and make 96 a year.

the rate will depend on my ability to negotiate, and the fact that they cant recruit or retain people, and that they know me as a LVN.

the 3 prisons in the bay area will get more than the rest of the state.

and depending on how you negotiate, you will get more or less than 8000.

If i misled people in prisons outside of CTF, SVSP, or San Quintin, i'm sorry, i have no clue what you will get as i'm not the one negotiating for you, other than somewhere in the 7045-8154 a month range.

If you fail to negotiate or accept the lower part of the range, thats on you.

I can only say what i as a new grad will get at SVSP, and it will be alot more than 7000 a month.

Why would i accept the bottom of the range, when i can go to DMH as a MTA and make more than that, retire at 50 instead of 55, and get 3.0 instead of 2.5.

I don't think any CA state prison has MTA's anymore. I believe DMH is the only state agency that still have this class. I used to be an MTA..no longer...You could get your LVN or RN license and work much like the MTA's of the past. The LVN's do not make near the salary the RN's do , if thats what you were looking for.

I have been an lpn for about 1 1/2 yrs....i'm leaving my job at a rehab hospital for a state job @ angola state pen.......with only a year experience they stated me out a little over $20.00. But the total overall picture means benefits that are amazing,a pension i can start collecting in ten yrs....steady work...i'll never be cancelled or called off.....2 raises a year for 5 years....training classes paid for, cont. Education...just to name a few pointers!

You should apply in ca. They pay a lot more plus benefits.does anyone know if there is a way to obtain an lvn lic. With military experience? I have a lot of medical experience as a surgical tech. I need the license for an mta position.

Hi! I am a Registered Nurse Specialist (psychiatric dorm) at a men's prison in Milton, Florida. When I moved here a year ago (after spending 12 years in Southern California) I went to work in one of the major hospitals here. I had 4 years of experience at the time and started at $18.00 an hr. WHAT!!! Crazy! I was making $40/hr in California. I decided to go for more money and applied with the state of Florida. I got hired (nearly 3 month process) and started at $24.00 an hour. Quite a difference if you ask me. The job is a bit more stressful but I am the charge nurse and work M-F 7a-3p and have holidays off. Not bad. I am starting the BSN program in January...this is the perfect job to work while going to school :)

LPN NY $ 26.00/hr

In Oklahoma, a new grad makes $12.94 in a state medium facility...after 1 year they go up to $15.00 most.....with no raises throughout year. Kind of sucks compared to states that are paying their LPN's $22.00 for the same type of facility....

Vacaville State Prison still utilizes MTA's. ......... who are the contact people for more information on working as a MTA at Vacaville State Prison.
