  1. Monitoring should be required! Labetalol can drop a pulse rate. Both meds can have a rebound to HTN. Even if the hospital does not require monitoring, I would never give either med without monitoring to protect not only the pt, but my license! Just my 2 cents
  2. Hey there quiltingbabe! There are many...I would suggest your department invest in a Forensic Nursing book, it cover evidence collection. Also, coordinate your efforts with the local police department. A lot of evidence cannot be used due to chain of custody issues if procedures are not followed exactly! Good luck!
  3. I earned a certificate as a Forensic Nurse Consultant through Kaplan University. It was $5K, and has done nothing for me. To be a SANE RN, you would have to obtain a nursing position in an emergency room at a hospital where rape exams are performed. Depending on the State you live in, you have to complete a certain amount of hours doing rape exams under the direction of a physician in the department. Once completed, you sit for state boards to become certified as a SANE RN. Hope this helps
  4. I believe it would be to convert lbs to kgs...27 lbs divided by 2.2=12.3 kgs (rounded) 12.3 kgs x 115 mg (per kg ) = 1415 mg. ( rounded) Hope this helps.
  5. Hey there Lorry, thanks for the info. So here is what I was told-only bring my resume, drivers lic, SS card, and TB test results. I was told to place them in an envelope and bring nothing else. I was also told NOT to wear an underwire bra! I believe the gentleman that called me was Mr. Lee??(I have the notes in my car) I did drive to the facility this week, see where I need to go but there is a sign outside that says guards will let you in. So do I stand outside the doorway?? Also, I applied for a nurse position, but am being interviewed for a charge nurse position. Can you tell me what that would entail? Then I got an email from CMS stating they are also interviewing me for ADON position which I hardly think I qualify for??? Sorry to be so chatty! I do appreciate all your guidance. I would love to come and work with you-you are a great mentor!!! Any thoughts, sugestions or comments are extremely welcome!!!!
  6. I am an RN with 15 years of experience and unable to find employment in MD. I have a strong background in emergency medicine, have applied to hospitals, clinics, outpt centers, you name it, I have applied. I own a home I can't sell, my money is running out! I cannot work agency because I have been out of the "clinical" area for 2 years working in Transplant. I am ready to just walk away from everything and move far away!! Any suggestions? Please?
  7. Lorry, loved this site! Your quite impressive. I want to be like you when I grow up!
  8. I worked in Transplant. 24 hr shifts (not including travel time)
  9. I will be sure to remember some of the interview questions I am asked on Monday and post them! I am going to review the correctional nursing section of my Forensics textbook! Will keep you updated! So, can I just say that the only thing about the interview that makes me nervous is that it is street parking only, no parking on site and the neighborhood is extremely dangerous!!!!!
