Has anyone seen this addendum on the nursing curriculum packet page 9 for the 2017-2018 school year? I'm really, really hoping they're not adding any more prerequisites because I'm chomping at the bit to leave my current career and another year would be so hard!

"Based upon current curriculum planning these course requirements may change slightly, once finalized a transition plan will be put into place."

@WCSU1987 ME TOO!! Working full time (until the nursing program) I can't take of the time needed to take micro in the summer before the program. Where are you planning on taking AP II and Micro? I give you a lot of credit for taking Chem and AP I together! I'm taking AP I right now with Art Appreciation... I wanted to take AP I alone but couldn't because of financial aid! Taking the TEAS on October 29, have you registered for them yet?!

So glad to 'meet' you!

At NVCC. Intro to Chem was difficult in the beginning still bit of a challenge, but have a great instructor that makes you learn. AP1 is a lot of memorization. First Lap Exam is coming up shortly. The Instructor usually gives out quiz questions for the test, but not for Lab. I've struggled with Lab since I only used a microscope twice in my college experience 5 or 6 yrs ago.

The instructor reiterated awhile back in class if you can't receive a 4.0 in your science classes chances are slim to be accepted into a program. I've heard rumors need to get 80 or above on the TEAS or forget about being accepted into the CCC program. A 4.0 in nursing programs; I am hoping to come out with a 3.0 in Chem & a 3.5 in AP1. I am hoping that stats are not right that about 20% of people apply are accepted into the CCC program.

I wanted to be in a program by the time I am 30 in 2017. Now scrambling to find a second option.

I plan to take the TEAS in December and January if I have to.

Taking Lifespan during the Winter.

Then applying to the CCC program.

Taking AP2 and Micro in the Spring

If not in the program my original backup plan was the State LPN program, but the State did away with that.

So taking a language in the Summer

Chem 1 and Physics in the Fall if not accepted into the CCC

Possibly take the TEAS again and apply for SCSU program at the end of 2017. Thinking may apply to an accelerated program not sure yet.

Chem 2 and Math for Natural Sciences in the Spring

Possibly Stats in the Summer and if not accepted to SCSU going to look into NVCC PTA program.

I just spoke with an advisor at Capital last week. He told me when you look at the applicant pool, you want to see what the lowest GPA that was accepted into the program to gauge what score you want to beat. He said a score in the 70's on the TEAS was good, and that the lowest GPA for nursing classes accepted last year was a 3.4. Keep in mind too that there is a pool of applicants accepted each year by lottery too! Good luck!

3.4 overall oy vey!!! Overall GPA I believe is a 3.15. My previous degree was a 2.7 so I've brought my GPA up a little.

Not sure what my Science GPA is at the moment.

Hoping to get a 3.0 in Chem and a 3.5 in AP1.

Our instructorsite have been telling us to apply to Gateway and Capital due to them being the least competitive.

Took my TEAS tonight, and I went in not prepping but I got an 86 overall. My strongest areas were math and English structure, followed by science. Oddly reading is my weakest. I'm used to doing fairly well on that maybe my concentration was off. I'm excited to have that aspect of the application done, and I had already scheduled a second test date in January so that will give me a chance to do more practice questions and perhaps improve the score. A&P is 2/3rds done! We're on our way!

Taking the TEAS today. Wicked nervous feel underprepared. If unable to achieve a 75 or higher have to wait till the 28th of January. I am going to see if any other places have it earlier.

Finished the TEAS scored a 71.3%. I mean I passed. However, worried still not competitive to get accepted into the nursing program. Worried if I do it again they take your newest score over your older score. So if I get a 52% on the next text I would be screwed.

Not sure what to do.

Anyone have any sound advice can give?

I am currently an LPN and just applied today; I take the TEAS Jan 26 at Naugatuck. I have an A- in chem and a B in both A&P 1 and 2. All my pre- and co-reqs are complete.

Anyone know about Northwestern 18 month program?

Okay finally got grades in.

Nursing GPA 3.86

TEAS 86

AP1 - A

Have a Happy New Year and good luck to everyone applying!

Dumb question.. how do we calculate our nursing GPA? And since all my classes except concepts of chem are transferred in to NVCc from various school in and out of state, do I only use my chem grade or do I find the original grades I received in those classes and calculate that way?

Curious on that to.

Took the TEAS 71.3 weakest area was science a lot of AP2 and Micro questions. Other weak area was vocabulary section. I passed, but retaking them 1/13. Then going to start the application process.

Apply to NVCC and NWCC.
