Greetings!!! What do you guys think? Say I got in to Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing to start in September and got into Norwalk CC and could start next month!!??!!?? now what... it's further away, highly inconvenient but am sure would work out, it's cheaper, but I've heard it's a very difficult program, with not too many people making it through and the exam pass rate not as high. Granted ANY program is going to be challenging as it should be but when I hear people compare the two NCC starting to scare me a bit more like it's less forgiving But if all that worked out.. would you guys start 9 months sooner? .. or work and save til Sept and go to the more convenient one?

hopefully I'll find out about BHSN end of month/mayybe january. NCC there are some things in the works, cause there was a possible oversight and it's sounding like they'll give me my seat back for next month. Help? What do you think?

It is a tough decision. I personally would go to BHSN since you said it is closer to you. It is also a very good program and the passing rate is high. I also heard good things about NCC. Go with your heart.

I am an NCC grad and I whole-heartedly endorse their program. I was VERY well prepared for the NCLEX and my first med/surg job.

That being said I would advise you to stay close to home. Having a three year old and attending nursing school will be a challenge. Make it as easy on yourself as possible. Travel time in Ffld. County is so unpredictable, weather, sickness and gas money are all important variables to weigh.

Specializes in A little of this & a little of that.

I'd go with close to home. Remember, besides travel to class, there are clinicals too. With the closer program clinicals are more likely to be easier for you to get to. Try getting to Norwalk in AM traffic, no thanks, and clininals could be even further. Both are highly rated programs. As long as you have financial aid, you'll certainly have a job to pay it back.

BHSN accept students in December? BHSN also have an evening program. Good luck, you are a very lucky person. CONGRATZ!!!!

Congrats..you probably already made your decision by now..but I would take closer to home BHSN is a great program..but I must defend Norwalk as i will soon be a graduate of their program..you are incorrect with your information..NCC has a reputation for having an excellent NCLEX pass rate..always has..they have been around since the 1970s..last years class had a 100% pass rate. Its a tough school, but a great one...but so is BHSN...good luck!!!

I would choose BHSN over NCC anyday. FYI- you will not hear from BHSN until March or April or even a few weeks before school starts. They have very poor communication skills. I applied last year, didn't get in ;( but work with a couple girls that attend, they love it, obvioulsy very hard, its the oldest nursing school I believe in the country so how can you go wrong. The comment about a few weeks before school starts, were two girls who were on the waiting list. I'm applying again as well as the CT Comm College thing - NVCC,Gateway and Capital are my choices. Good luck!!

Hey Matt,Why would you choose BHSN over NCC? I got accepted into both schools and had a really tough time choosing which school I wanted to attend.

NCC is known for their Paramedic program not their Nursing. It obviously doesn't mean it is a bad program it just doesn't have the same reputation and proven track record that BHSN has. I worked at Norwalk ER for 5 years and the nurses were great. I know not everyone came from NCC I know three did and they were awesome. My sister-in-law works as a NPRN for 11 years and has worked with nurses from both schools and she see that BHSN prepares their students a little better. I work in the EMS field and you hear more pros then cons about BHSN verses NCC. I take it you are at NCC?

I did decide to go with NCC. I had such a hard time choosing because I heard such outstanding things about both programs. I ended up choosing NCC (the farther school) mainly because I worked at Stamford Hospital with a lot of nurses that graduated that program and couldn't fill a whole hand with names of those I felt were incompetent. It was a really tough decision and I feel extremely lucky to have been accepted to both schools. Lets just hope when I am sitting at that desk taking my boards; standing before a distressed patient; explaining home care to unnerved family, that I made the right decision. GOOD LUCK THIS SEMESTER EVERYONE!!!!!!!

Specializes in Maternity & newborn.

this is just what i personally would do.

i would go right away to NCC for one semester (+ summer if you can) and then transfer to BHSN for the next. that's my idea....i wonder if you will consider doing that. i'm glad you will get some work done now, the commute will be minimized when you transfer. but who knows, you may love NCC so much that you decide not to transfer! i think that the sooner you get started, the better, even if the transfer may be a little "rough" i think you will be glad you got at least one class in. best of luck to you! most importantly, congrats!!!!!!!

The one closer to you
