U.S.A. Colorado

I searched this forum and others for recent information about Vail but didnt find anything current..... Does anyone here have any inside info about working here full time or seasonal? Hows the working environment? Hows the Pay? Why are there currently so many openings in a small facility? What was/is your experience working in this area/Vail.... Me and my family are all snowboarders and just got back from 10 days in southern colorado.... Cant wait to get back to the snow. We are going up to Vail for a few days in early march to look around and I plan to move up there after summer if I like the area.

I am happy to say that I got my official offer from HR today. I accepted it and am waiting to see what start date I will be getting. They and I have dragged a little on the time line because I have not planned to start until July but I told them I could budge some as long as I could get some time off to see my kids graduate in our home town.

Im pretty excited to go live in the mountains. I love it up there.

I'd love to hear an update. I'm still a new grad (will be a year in June), NSICU nurse but am very interested in travel / seasonal work in ski areas.

VVMC is amazing I did my senior practicum there and if I didn't live in Denver and have kids I would have applied to work there. The people that work there are all amazing and its a beautiful hospital with AMAZING views!!

Update for dixiejoe, having spent 4 years up here I'd suggest just doing seasonal work. This is a place that seems to put the higher paid people on the chopping block really quick. I have known quite a few people get axed for really stupid reasons over the past few years...

It's a beautiful area and a nice hospital that has a decent pay rate but putting your faith and livelihood into an area that is a one pony show would be crazy. I would never buy a place up here for that reason and because it is super expensive. ....

I've read that on other forums and heard it from other places. Unfortunate really. I supposed there's no shortage of people wanting to work there though. Do you think a year of ICU experience would be sufficient for landing a seasonal position?

I was wondering if you had any idea when they start posting jobs for seasonal work? Would love to spend a ski season in Vail if I could!

Depends on the department. Sept through early November.

One.year may be enough but the.icu here isn't really an ice. There are less healthy patients on a tele unit in a city hospital generally....

Hoping some seasonal assignments start being posted in the next month or two. Argo, are you still working there? Things going ok?

I left to travel 6 months ago. Still have a condo in vail. Happy to be out. If you go, go to surgery center. Main OR is in turmoil currently and probably won't be better any time soon. After I left about 10 of the full time staff left also. Couple went to surgery center also.

You could also do travel for winter at Centura in summit county(Breckenridge).

Going to look again at Summit County and VVMC seasonal positions this year. How's the traveling going Argo?
