MSU Denver ANO Program

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

Hello All!

My name is Ashton and I am in the process of completing my prerequisites for MSU Denver's accelerated nursing program. I graduated from Metro in 2012 and went to graduate school for a semester for counseling and decided that nursing was for me! I just wanted to know from others what helps a person getting into this program?

I have my CNA and volunteer experience, but no healthcare experience. So far I am doing well in my pre-reqs, I think I may bust through three of them this summer so that I can apply for Jan 2014. I have three pre-reqs left.

Any thoughts and advice would be appreciated :)

How long does the ADN program take?

four semesters with summers off. The TIME thing is also something to consider.

Hi SV007 and ashieb90, I just came across your guys' conversation and figured I would chime in. ashieb90 I'm in the same boat as you. I have a bachelors in Finance, so Ive just been working on finishing my pre-reqs these last few years so i can apply to nursing school. One thing to consider with the plan SV007 is suggesting, and SV007 this may help you as well, is that most CO hospitals will only hire a nurse who has their BSN b/c they are trying to achieve magnet status. Now with that being said, if you do still want to pursue your ADN bc of its affordability there is a program thru UCCS that will allow you to concurrently work thru your BSN coursework once youre already so far along in your ADN program so in theory you still graduate with a BSN it just may take a semester or so longer. Just a thought tho, hope this helps and Good Luck on your journey.

I have a&p2 and stat this semester, then patho next semester.

By the way, I also heard that a lot of hospital only hiring BSN. Who going for MSU-ANO with me, reise your hand pls?

Is anybody know about HESI A2?

Hi, I just see the point system that Metro will use for this year and freaking out.... They give so much point for people who have enroll with them. All my pre-req are from somewhere else. This is totally unfare, they never mention that.

Oh no Agarnarak, I just saw that info too. I agree, using those stats as part of the ranking process is not totally fair. Is there anyone who is currently enrolled in the program or has recently graduated that can tell us all a little bit about what to expect as well as where your clinical sites were? Thanks

Does anyone know which sections of the HESI A2 MSU Denver requires? I just want to know what sections to study for. Thanks.

Hi acqbadas,

Do you enrolled with Metro before? Hesi a2 are english and math. Are you apply this year?

Hey! yeah, I graduated from metro with my first undergrad degree in 2009. I am going to apply for 2015. I confirmed with them that the only 2 sections of the Hesi A2 they test is reading comprehension and math. Ive taken the exam before, it's not bad. The math section is not bad at all if you know how to use a calculator as one is provided. Will you be applying this year as well?

That is very good for you. Do you also have cna expereince? I can see you in the program already :)

Is anybody apply this year? I sent my application last week.
