Looking for LPN school in Colorado

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

I am looking for a LPN program in Colorado. I heard Emily Griffith has a great program but I want to later move into RN program. I also checked in Regis What do you think?

keland1,

You are about right on the Sallie Mae interest rate. You are also right that the program is pretty intense (especially if you are trying to work or have a family) but I think all nursing programs are fairly intense. I do have one idea that could possibly help with the financial aspect. You might try getting a job at a hospital that has a scholarship or tuition reimbursement program. I am working as a patient care tech at a local hospital and they are giving me some pretty substantial finacial aid in exchange for a commitment to work for them as an RN after school. I think most larger hospitals have programs like this, and at least at my facility these programs are available to all employees. Best of luck to you.

Pat,

What hospital do you work at? Curious as I have been trying to get my foot in at many of the local hospitals with no success. I want to get in for the tuition reimbursement program.

Thanks for any info.

I will be starting DSN in January. 9 days from today. WOOOHOOO. I am moving down from Steamboat springs CO to do this. I will post if anything unusual happens.

Does anyone know the deadline for applying for a October 2007 start? Is the next start date January 2008? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

DSN doesn't have enrollment deadlines per se. You apply for the quarter you want, and if it's full (and you don't make it off the waitlist), you'll be automatically enrolled in the following quarter. At least, that's how it worked when I applied.

Thanks so much for answering my question! Very helpful indeed. When you applied did you have all your pre-reqs done or were they in progress. I'm just wondering if they'll accept my application even though my last pre-req won't be done until the end of the summer. I tried to find the answer on their website but was unsuccessful.

Er..um...I'm not sure. I had some pre-reqs that were being completed that semester. I would e-mail Jeff Johnson ([email protected]) and ask, or call him. He's the director of admissions there.

Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it :)

first post. hi.

when did they start having a waitlist? and how long is it?

Since their enrollment is always open, the waitlist is per semester. I was #34 on the list and got in that semester. DSN does not have more than a 3-6 month wait at most, and probably not even that since they're enrolling 4X a year.

oh, nice. thank you.

also (sorry) do you know when they changed to 4x a year? The last time I checked - which was sometime last year - they were only starting classes twice a year.

thanks so much!

I think they just started. My class was the first "added" class, and that was in Oct. DSN decided not to have an LPN program, and to focus on the RN and BSN programs instead.
