Info needed pls. Loveland, CO

Have you been to Loveland? The town that is and not the ski area? Two different places not even close to each other. Loveland the town is just south of Fort Collins and north of Denver. I lived there for a few years and worked at McKee (the local hospital, part of Banner Health Care). Loveland is a small affordable town, nothing like the mtn community of Evergreen however. It is nice in it's own way but it is not in the mtns. It is about an hour to the park (Rocky Myn. National), which is beautiful but no downhill skiing. The downtown of Loveland has lots of potential but has never quite made it - businesses can't seem to stay, therefore, there are a lot of empty buildings. Unfortunately instead of money going into this area, builders are tearing up farmland all around the surrounding parts. It is still a nice small town but you should check it out before moving there. I left Loveland and moved to Golden which is also a small town but has more to offer, closer to mtns, closer to Denver hospitals, a bit more life in town and of course more expensive.

yes loveland south of ft.collins. I went to loveland chamber of commerce it looks like there's a lot of developments going on. Anyways, DH and I are going to check it out maybe stay for a week or so.

I just moved to Johnstown in Aug., which is about 10 miles or so from Loveland. We were originally looking at houses in Loveland but my hubby saw a house in Johnstown he liked so we got it. This area of CO is nice, Loveland is closer to the mountains but anywhere around you can see mountains. And yes the process for endorsement is long! I graduated in May, got my CA license in Aug., applied for endorsement in late aug, and CO just issued my license Oct. 6. I start my first job friday. So if you have your CA license, start the endorsement process now. Go to http://www.dora.state.co.us/nursing and DL the application. Everything is there that you need. Also create an account at the Dept. of registration online where you can track the status of your stuff. And send in the form for license verification now if you can...that alone takes 4 weeks...because you have to do it by paper. CA does not do online verification and CO needs the state's seal and verification of your license. After they get that, you are good to go. When they got my verification my license was issued the following day.If you haven't taken your IV class I'd wait till you get here....CO requires more hours and I may end up taking the class over, and that doesn't hurt, either....more practice.

DH and I are seriously thinking of relocating in CO were are currently in So. Cali. We want to see mountains and snow and serenity. Looking at pictures of Loveland it looks so tranquil. We want to raise our children in a nice atmosphere. I read Loveland is family oriented. DH went to CO back in 2000 for work in Evergreen though he says it's nice. Anyways I've been researching all day today. Loveland is blooming seems like. I got my eyes set on Medical Center of the Rockies will open early 2007. I called HR of PVHS they are not currently hiring until 2006. The recruiter mention pay range of $21.77 New grad, $31.04 with 20 plus experience (I'm not sure I heard her right on that one). Anyways, I was like deng!! that's it. I think she heard me cause HR rep continued, "Well, you have to take in consideration that the cost of living is a lot less expensive than Cali". Rep was very sweet, she told me the best way is to check out the website and the will announce hiring.
So, I guess I need 'Endorsement' from Colorado Boards of Nursing, is that a long process? Also, any info in Loveland will be appreciated. Thanx

Are you an LPN or RN? Pay depends on your classification. I am an LPN new grad, starting the evening shift (2-10) @ $16 base and $2 shift differential. And to give you an idea of housing prices, I lived in the Bay Area (San Jose) and here in CO, my house we bought for $208K, a 3 bed 2 bath ranch with full basement where we can add 3 bedrooms and another bath...would easily go for 500-600K or more. So yes it is way cheaper, but the cost of living will not take all of your paycheck like in Cali. If you are thinking about it, go for it! The new hosp. in Loveland won't open until fall 2007 but there are still plenty of jobs here. Just depends on where you want to work. I wish you the best of luck and if you come out here, let me know!!...PS: Did HR tell you that Med. Center of the Rockies isn't hiring yet? That makes sense. But if she said PVHS isn't hiring, that is bull. If you go on the PVHS website, there are tons of jobs for RN's right now!! They post new jobs every Thursday.

Hi thanks for the info. The HR rep said Med Center of the Rockies isn't hiring yet.. staff at least. I'm an RN. I'm hoping when it gets closer the hospital will offer some great relocation package. Yeah, I figured the process of endorsement will take long. I'll start it now. thanks again. You said you were from San Jose, CA. I have family up north SJ,Milipitas,Fremont,Tracy,Watsonville.

PVHS, being a magnet facility, has very low vacancy/turnover rates and it is actually pretty competitive to get hired there. They give retention bonuses to their nurses, but aren't to keen on the sign on bonus idea (I know, I used to work there). Also, I'm not to sure about the new hosp. - there was an article in the paper a couple months ago about this area possibly becoming "overbedded."

I know this is an old thread, but it applies to me so I thought I'd post to it. I am also looking to relocate to Loveland, Ft Collins, somewhere around in that area. I've been researching housing prices and it's a lot more affordable than where I"m at right now, but haven't been able to figure out how much typical utilities are (they're killing us here). Also, I was wondering about schools and that typical stuff. I'll be a new grad when I relocate (in about two years) and it seems like a lot of places don't hire new grads. I know the pay is a lot less than I'd make as a new grad here, but hopefully the cost of living makes up for that. Is Loveland 'family friendly'? Are the schools good etc, etc? Any info would be appreciated, it's easier to hear it from someone living/working there than to try and research it.

I am a newbie nurse.. in order to obtain endorsements in colorado, you have to move there first? I am from Iowa, I want to work in colorado springs. My multi state license is good or do I need to get the endorsement.. ? So many questions. Any input is appreciated!

If you are part of the compact, you can work here on your IA license for 30 days. If CO is going to be your permanent place of residency you will need to get an endorsement from the CO BON. I moved here in 2005 from CA and all I had to do was apply for endorsement and got it in about 3-4 weeks. Depending on your employer out here there may be other things you would need to do. But for now, cotact the BON and request paperwork. Board of Nursing Home Page. You shouldn't have any problems. I work in Greeley, so I am not sure about the jobs in CO Springs.

I know this is really old but did you get moved out here? Loveland is both family friendly and the schools are good. Let me know how you like it here!
