I made the stupidest mistake and got caught shoplifting. It's a misdemeanor I also just recieved my CNA license. Will they revoke my license?? Please help

This is a question for your certifying authority, but I would assume they have a mandatory reporting requirement. You need to report what happened or you can expect them to take action because you failed to report, as a minimum. Look on the website to see if this type of situation is addressed there before you call or write.

You need to stop calling this a mistake. A mistake is turning left when you meant to go right, or writing in red pen when you should've used black.

You didn't accidentally walk out of a store with merchandise you didn't pay for. You consciously chose to take something that did not belong to you and try to get away with it.

If you're going to avoid making this same poor choice in the future, you need to start being brutally honest with yourself about what happened. You need to figure out why you made that choice so that you can avoid the same circumstances/pressure/emotional state in the future, or at least be prepared to deal with it differently.

As to reporting to your BON, those rules are different from state to state, so it looks like you've got some research to do on your BON's website to figure out what you need to do. Not reporting it if you are required to do so could really come back to bite you in the butt later, so I urge you to just rip the band-aid off now, so to speak, and deal with it up front.

Good luck.

Here's the thing, most employers ask if you've been arrested before. The fact that you've been arrested for shoplifting will pretty much disqualify you for employment in any nursing facility or homecare agency. If you shop lift at a store, what's to say you won't take things from your residents?

There will be a background check before you are hired no matter where you apply as a CNA. Even if you decide not to tell them about this, the background check will show it. The fact that it is recent will only make it worse.

So it doesn't really matter if your certifcation is revoked or not. This "mistake" is going to cost you.
