Time to turn alarms?

I was reading a novel and in the story it mentions a bed alarm (in a hospital type setting) that goes off when a patient needs to be turned. I assume it is set on a timer for every 2 hours, when the 2 hours are up, chimes go off.

I've never heard of such a thing and I've been a CNA for more than 20yrs. Anyone ever hear of such a thing? or was it just something in a novel? :alien:

If you never worked with something like this, would you think it was a good thing???

They don't call it "fiction" for nothing. I'm guessing that some non-nurse heard the term "bed alarm" and somehow connected that in her head with "turn q2h" because she heard both terms when she went to visit a SNF for background, and ended up with an alarm that tells you to turn somebody q2h.:rotflmao:

Oh my can you imagine such a thing. :woot: One more alarm buzzer going off for a CNA to have to worry about and just make you want to go insane.:wacky: ALso can you imagine the annoyance of 20 of these things going off at the same time, and the poor residents are fast asleep. Every two hours instead of a gentile hi mrs. jones I need you turn you on your side now which some residents get so use to it you could probably turn them and they don't even hardly wake up. To an alarm going off for 15 minutes because the CNA could not get to it any faster because she had 10 other residence to turn.

We definitely don't need any more alarms/beeping in this world. My unit has a q2h turn schedule, and we turn all of our patients on the even hours (i.e., left at 0800, right at 1000, supine at noon, etc.). Easy-peasy. No alarms needed.

True, so true! Now YOU need to write the book. Maybe you can also convey some of the importance and amazingness of this work in addition to getting the facts right. Think you might?

Hee Hee Jess. Well I'll have to have help because I must say that spelling and grammer were never my strong classes in school,But yes can you imagine the book we CNAs and Real Nurses could write about that would be so true to life, that it would be seen as a thriller, or a horror novel. The type that some people would have nightmares about.
