Prometric, cna program

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

I went through a cna program in Florida back in February of this year. The instructor informed me that it takes prometric 6-10 weeks or longer for them to send you the email with the information for getting a livescan fingerprint done, is this true? Because it has now been 13 weeks and I haven't received any email from prometric and I've been checking my email and junk mail a couple of times a week and I don't think I accidentally deleted the email, but I'm not sure. I have been trying to get in contact with the women who owns the company and who was also my instructor, but I haven't been able to reach her.

I called another cna center and asked how long does it take for prometric to send out the email for fingerprint and she just told me that it take 14-17 business days for prometric to evaluate your application and then they will send an email out if they need additional information. I am debating on whether or not I should try the other cna center which also has their own livescan (it is also on prometric website for locations to get your fingerprint). But I don't want to go through another cna program if it's going to take another 6-10 weeks or more to get my email notification from prometric. And I want to be certified before I move to tampa, fl to attend nursing school down there. So here are my questions:

1. Is 6-10 weeks or more the normal amount of time it takes for prometric to email you?

2. Should I go to the other cna program which cost $225 ( testing fees not included) or just do it on my own and watch YouTube for the 21 skills?

3. And if I do it myself, would it be cheaper to schedule the test directly through prometric vs. a cna program?

Call Prometric directly. That seems like an awful long time to wait.

That's way too long

I was given paperwork to contact Prometric. I HAD to call them and make the arrangements.

Same here. We couldn't sign up through the school, we had to do it on our own and send in a money order or certified check to Prometric. Then they sent an email and a letter with my test date. It was a couple of months after I finished CNA clinicals, but only because I was still in a separate Phlebotomy class (different school though) and I wanted to concentrate on that.

At first I was confused about the whole process because other CNA programs tested AT the school. My school didn't do that. We had to test at a regional Prometric site. Call them STAT (lol). Good luck Hello Kitty!!

I am wondering the same thing about Prometric. I submitted my application online yesterday and I have not received a receipt of application email yet. When I log in it says "status - submitted" but that is just the log in for the online application part. I can't log in to any other part of the website because it requires a Prometric ID number and I don't have that yet. I am assuming the Prometric ID number would come with the receipt of application email. Also, I don't have any pending charges to my credit card that I gave on the application to pay for the test.

I am also wondering about it said in the brochure that one day an admission letter / email? just shows up with the date and time of your test. I wonder how much notice there will be because I'll have to request off work. Is there a way to let Prometric know my preference? I mean what if the admission letter finally comes and that date is not good for me? I know there is a $30 reschedule fee but I would think a lot of hassle could be avoided by letting the applicant pick the test date.

I never attended any CNA course and I am planning to challenge the exam. My friend just got her CNA and she is so mad she wasted her time and money on a CNA course because she learned more from youtube than what was taught in the class.

I talked to Prometric today, I offered to give them my application ID number and they asked, does it start with 2 zeroes? I said no, it starts with 4 zeroes. He said well I won't be able to look up any thing with that type of number. So he tried looking up with my social, that didn't work. Then my name and date of birth. Still nothing. So he said (paraphrase) we don't have it, submit a new application. Ok, no problem. I get home, submit a new app... still no receipt of application email!! and now I have a 2 application ID numbers!

So... I am confused. Why would an emailed application receipt take any longer than 10 minutes? I could see them reviewing my application for 2 weeks to decide if they need more info / fingerprint stuff..... but I would think the application receipt would be pretty instant.

Now let's say for some reason an emailed applicant receipt DOES take 2 weeks... will my card be charged twice? It would be no problem if I have given them a credit card but I used my debit card. Sigh.

Any advice/suggestions/similar experiences out there?
