Nurses and Computer: Venting

I just had to vent. I really do not like nurses that think they own the computers in the nursing station. The computers are for everyone not just the nurses and if you just sitting down not using the computer all just running your mouth about a man that do not want you before you have even laid eyes on your patient, then you need to not complain or catch an attitude. Some of the nurses I work with really think they can talk to you any kind of way and you have to put them in their place. Then have the nerve to want to call on the lords name in vein when you get smart back. I told that nurse the lord can't help and she wants to question my religion. I would never use the lords name in vein because Im fat, laze, and do not want to do my job. I know the lord and I am pretty sure he would not want to help you but I am sure he would do his best to keep me from doing something to lose my license. They really just disgust me and there are a few like that. I wish I worked with the good nurses all the time but unfortunately that is not always possible. However, this nurse gets no more chances I'm going at her hard next time.

I really would speak to a charge nurse first. I wouldn't jeopardize my license. I hope venting has helped you somehow and will pray that things get better for you.

Good luck. You are on a path to bad things with that kind of attitude. You need to find a mature way to settle things.

I'm wondering if that nurse you keep "putting in her place" and is about to have you "going at her hard" recognizes you on this website? Not the smartest way to vent, with your photo splashed all over it.

By the way: what license do you hold that you are afraid of losing?

I spoke to my supervisor and she said she would talk to her because she came to work with an attitude and she had no right to hog a computer she was not using. Venting did help alot thanks for your response.

Thanks for your response. Did I say I did her anything. No I said she made me want to do something that would make me lose my license. So I did not do anything un mature except for stand up to myself and not let a no good and I do mean no good nurse that does not do her job like she should talk to me any kind of way and then challenge my religion because she wants to call on the lords name vein.

Thanks for your response. IF she is on this website so what? what can she do me? I did not put my job name or state her name. And if I was asked about it I would own up to it. Oh and my bad not my license but my CERTIFICATION. I am a certified patient care technician.

Please if you are going to comment do not be bias. I am not wrong for venting. All i am wrong for is wanting to put my hands on another person, however i can admit to that. At least you can do is look at the story from both sides and point out to wrongs on both ends.

You are not wrong for venting or standing up about yourself. What we were trying to get across to you is that the way you said you were going to do it is wrong and as likely to get you in trouble as anyone else.

We wished for you to understand how to handle the situation with maturity and professionalism.

I am pretty much regretting trying to help you at all now.

I'm not understanding why you're taking her verbiage as "challenging your religion". I encounter many people on a daily basis who "take the Lord's name in VAIN". The point here seems to be over a computer that you felt a nurse was "hogging." What about politely stating that you needed it to chart ? That's where I'd start. I likely wouldn't have led with something offensive. And if you indeed know The Lord, then you may reconsider telling the other nurse that he wouldn't want to help them, or "going at her hard", as that doesn't reflect anything Jesus did. We all know people in life who are hard to deal with. How you choose to deal with them reflects on you and not on them.

Religion should have nothing to do with work. And people everywhere will get under your skin. I understand being annoyed at people hogging something you need but it's nothing an "excuse me, I need to use the computer for a moment" won't fix. Frankly you sound like you need a chill pill. Going into situations with the attitude of "putting people in their place" and "going at them hard" is not going to accomplish anything, ever.

You know that thing Jesus said about turning the other cheek and loving your neighbor and stuff? Probably more important than telling people off for using a common phrase.

First, you cannot dictate how people respond in a public forum.

Second, get your picture off this forum. You are asking for trouble because more of your co-workers are on here than you think and I have seen people lose their jobs over online forum venting.

Three, people suck and coworkers are no different - but I have a feeling that your attitude often hurts you more than helps you. I don't mean this to be mean, but seriously, get over yourself.

Four, a nurse will not appreciate being told what's up by a PCA who is "beneath her." I'm not saying that is my viewpoint, but many people don't take well to being told how to act or what to do by someone who them deem inferior by occupation. Again, that's not my viewpoint as I have tons of respect for my PCAs, but, many people DO view it this way.

Finally, not everyone has the same religious beliefs - working in nursing you will have to understand that. Some people don't find it offensive to take the Lords name in vein (however it's unprofessional to swear at work at all...again, not totally realistic.

You have much to learn, grasshopper. Don't take it all so personally. You need a thicker skin and more effective communication techniques.
