new cna doing badly need advice

Hello everyone. I went through a 4 month cna program where all we did was focus on the red cross test skills.My teacher happened to be best friends with a DON at a LTC place near me. So i got certified and got a job before i was even certified. I have been working for about 3 or 4 weeks now, and I feel like i am going to be fired. I still do not have an assignment yet. They keep giving me 2 or 3 people but have not given me a real assignment which would allow me to learn people and devlop a routine. Today, the staffing lady put me down as having my own assignment and the "lead aide" and another aide who has been there forever, ran and changed it. I dont know why they wont let me try and just get out there and work it. Should i be worried about being fired? I should also note that the other new aide who started with me already has her assignment and is doing fine. Its me who sucks. I dont know if i should be looking for other jobs or not. Any advice is helpful. Thank you.

I would ask your supervisor why and for suggestions to improve your skills to the point where you can have your own patient load. Its a nice sign, imo, that you are interested in expanding your skills and responsibilities so if there are reasons why you aren't being given that opportunity they should tell you and help you grow in your role. Are there things you know you aren't performing as expected? It's hard to say for sure just from what you posted. In regards to the person changing your assignment, you should discuss this with the staffing person. Honestly, the best thing you can do is meet with your manager and ask them what they think about your progress and if they have any recommendations for continued improvement.

The other CNA who was taken off orientation earlier than you may have experience in the field. I wouldn't use that as a comparison.

It is very normal to feel overwhelmed and to feel like you aren't doing as well as you should in your first month!

The other CNA who switched the assignment, well, she was there longer and probably feels like she has the sonority over you and can make that change...

I agree with "BrandonLPN", the other CNA may be new, but may also have a little bit more experience than you or was hired technically before you. Don't compare yourself to them.

Hang in there and keep doing what you're doing. If anyone had a problem with it, you would have been "spoken to" about it.

It is even more of a challenge when you are a "float" CNA and go from assignment to assignment instead of having a regular group. It will make you stronger and a better CNA because you are doing the hard part first! ....and let's face it, every facility needs float CNA's to fill the gaps, and right now, it seems that your regular assignment is the float position.
