We all have those days where you go to change a resident's brief, that's soiled through to the bed. And you get done rolling this 270 lb man and do a complete bed change.

And he goes again all over the bed.

So you do another bed change.

And he goes again all over the bed.

So you do another bed change......

...

And he goes again all over the bed.

FUUUUUUUUUU-

Huh? Cleaning an incontinent patient is no fun, but this was slightly unnecessary. If I ever require this level of medical care, I would hope that my caregiver wasn't talking about me in this way. They can't help it. You signed up for the job.

In the first pace, those of us actually brave enough to do bedside nursing care have been there, done that.

Second, if you were trying to do all that rolling and repositioning by yourself, either your facility is on crisis staffing, or you need to speak up.

Third, that's what happens when people are sick. We know this going in. Yeah, I get that it's frustrating for you. But it isn't about you. Quite possibly the patient isn't feeling really good about it, either.

Ok, I'll paint you a picture too ... I've been on the "patient" end of the nursing relationship over the last few days, suffering from acute pancreatitis. It's been a miserable experience. I highly hope that the staff aren't using your example of the colorful use of the alphabet in describing how miserable *they* must have been over *my* experience.

I truly hope your attitude portrayed here didn't demonstrate in real life to your patient.

Man, I really forgot that I typed "I can't believe the patient did this to me on purpose and I have no idea what this profession entails. I was a completely snarky jerk the whole time this was happening."

Can't even make a relatable post without getting lynched.

Tell me none of you have been in this exact situation and didn't feel a little frustrated. That's a saint.

I could be like "man, my favorite patient passed away" and y'all would be like "that's so selfish of you. How dare you have human emotion and be anything but a robot through HER experience. You knew what you signed up for."

Nope, you can't play the victim card. Yes, we've all been where you are, but it IS part of the job, frustrating as it may be.

What makes you think that anyone would think you selfish if you talk about a favorite patient dying? THAT is a relatable post.

I made a post about something common in our line of work that I'm certain has been a frustration to everyone. I can understand that the patient is going through a tough time, be reassuring and comforting and still be frustrated about something outside of either of our control. You yourself said it is, in fact, frustrating. "Playing the victim card"? really? For being defensive after you jump all over my case?

You must take yourself so seriously and have the heart of Mother Theresa if you have never had those thoughts.

This isn't even worth arguing about. I didn't even think a simple post like this could turn into such an ordeal and get people so offended.

I've totally been there, done that. And the patient I've gone through this with would do it on purpose, as we were changing her. She had very bad behaviors.

I think my record for changing a bed on a 400-plus man was 6 times...and totally dependent, making him total dead weight.

Ugh, what a day you had. I think we all go through it some days. You deserved a nice hot shower, some fresh brownies, and a relaxing nap.

Hopefully the next shift will be better?
