I am not making light of your situation but a little humor goes a long way...plus the song is true and I remember it when I make mistakes.

That was cute!

My class had one failure (skills) and all of us were shocked - because she knew her stuff.

She was a former CNA!

...but, it happens.

We had another failure (skills) and she was actually working as a NA (minus the certified!

When it comes to goals...'failing' is a risk. Bigger the goal...the bigger the risk.

...but it's all worth it in the end.

So, stop the negative self-talk...y'know? Give yourself a break.

You took the skills portion. Failed it. Hey...water under the bridge.

Just practice your bp and take that test again.

You'll do fine.

Agreed, when I took my test, I was so nervous that I almost threw up :-( You will do fine next time sweetie, practice the pulse, drink some coffee, and take a deep breath, you will ace it next time! Big hugs to you :-)

Well i finally passed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yay!!! :lol2:

:ancong!:

I took my skills test today as part of our classroom work and failed it. I was mortified!! I placed the bedpan wrong, didn't open the curtain when I was finished, touched the bedpan with both of my gloves, didn't raise the bed to waist level, and didn't tell the client that I was leaving to provide privacy.

Now I am scared to death that I will fail the state test.

Well, we told ya so !!!

I believe and by by believe I mean I actually did fail my skills test on Monday. I had to dress a patient with right arm weakness and did it the wrong way. I am soooo upset with myself because I had to travel to another state to find a class that was at a college and would be covered by financial aid (the classes where I live cost around $1500 and are run by private companies). We had to be at our clinicals at 7:30 am, I did all of that, passed the class with an "A" and failed the skills test. I read about another person on here who failed because of the same skill, I just know in my heart I failed. I went through all of that for absolutely nothing. I don't have the time or the money to keep taking the test so I think I may pursue something else. I feel like crap and I just needed to vent my frustrations. :banghead:

I would be upset too if that happened but dont give up! Never give up! You already made it that far. Counting the radial pulse is hard. In my opinion it was the hardest skill especially if the persons pulse skips a beat (like mine I have a heart murmur) or if the persons pulse is faint.Just keep practicing and try it again

For all of you visual learners that live in NC (they style of testing varies from state to state) there are videos from Gaston College on all the CNA skills on youtube. They helped me a lot since I can read all day and still not get something completely. Maybe this will help. Keep your head up and good luck!

Dont worry I was scared to death that I would fail it again too but I studied and passed it the second time. You will pass it too.
