  1. Thanks you both for your advice. I never thought to ask about patient load, I was certified over the summer and only been at the ltc for about 2 months. So this is all still sort of new to me.
  2. I also work monday thru friday at another job and go to school part time. What I mean by "possibilities" is learning new skills like ekg, phlebotomy, etc. I was hoping for some advice from somebody who may have been in my situation, that's all. But thanks for your input.
  3. I was recently offered a position in a hospital as a per diem CNA. I currently work every other weekend at a ltc facility and I am honestly not liking it at all. The only problem is that if I accept the hospital position, I would be making less than I am at the ltc facility. Should I accept the position because it is in a hospital which could lead to more possibilities or should I stay at the facility where they pay more??? I was under the impression that hospital CNA's get paid more than LTC CNA's, but I guess I was wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!
  4. I'm not sure what part of Jersey you are in but I do know of a course at Camden County College in south jersey. Its not called a patient care tech, its called a multi skilled tech. But the course you take are an EKG and phlebotomy course and like 3 other courses. The website is http://www.camdencc.edu, just type in multi skilled tech in the search box if you want anymore info.
  5. Thanks for responding... you are the only one who did. But I've gotten my certification since I posted that question.
  6. So there is no one in the entire state of new jersey who failed the CNA skills test?? Just me i guess. LOL.
  7. I have to retake the CNA skills test but, I'm confused as to what i will be retested on. I failed because of dressing a resident didn't do weak arm first. I only failed 1 skill but I missed 3 steps 1 in nail care and the other 2 in dressing a resident. Will I get all new skills or will I get the skill I failed and 3 new skills including handwashing Any input is greatly appreciated.
  8. I believe and by by believe I mean I actually did fail my skills test on Monday. I had to dress a patient with right arm weakness and did it the wrong way. I am soooo upset with myself because I had to travel to another state to find a class that was at a college and would be covered by financial aid (the classes where I live cost around $1500 and are run by private companies). We had to be at our clinicals at 7:30 am, I did all of that, passed the class with an "A" and failed the skills test. I read about another person on here who failed because of the same skill, I just know in my heart I failed. I went through all of that for absolutely nothing. I don't have the time or the money to keep taking the test so I think I may pursue something else. I feel like crap and I just needed to vent my frustrations.
