How difficult is it?

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

I am interested in signing up for CNA classes this fall. How difficult is it? What is the core of the classes? If someone who has been there done that can give a description. Thanks!!! I will be working PT 25 hrs as well. My overall goal will be to get an BSN so I think this would be a great start!

Thanks funtimes! I hate standing in front of ppl but dont shy away from it. You will just see my cheeks turn all red. LOL.

This reminds me of a classmate I had when I took my CNA class. She was great at being the uncompliant resident, and she was notorious if she saw that you were doing something incorrect to take the opertunity for a teaching moment. One time someone had to bring her to the weigh scale to weigh her. The girl that was the CNA was walking like 2 feet ahead of the her so she decided to take the opertunity to walk in a different direction then to the scale. It was hilarious to watch her go to one corner of the room and the girl playing the CNA turning around after getting to the scale to see she was not behind her. The funny thing is she would do this entirely on her own and she herself was a student and the instructor never even said anything to her to do these things.

LOL MVM. That would drive me crazy if I was in that class.

Specializes in Critical Care, Med-Surg, Psych, Geri, LTC, Tele,.

If you have some medical experience, it's not too hard. I had no medical experience, but a lot of my nursing prereqs were done when I took the CNA class.

I agree with what the OP said about it being mostly common sense.

Practice practice practice the skills portion and you'll be set!

My kids loved playing the non compliant patient when I practiced on them!

Mine was so easy that we had each test directly following lecture over the material.

thats insane NU RN.

Not really. We had the syllabus & knew what chapters would be covered & tested for each class.

ya I love a thorough Syllabus! :)
