Do you have to take the one month long course again if you end up not using the certificate for a long time? How long? Or do you have to just take the test? And how much does the test cost?

I have seen some community colleges that offer short refresher courses for individuals that were once state licensed but let it lapse for whatever reason. I believe the test is around $100 for both the written and skills section. Best of luck to you!
Exactly how long a time do you have to not use your certification for it to lapse? If you become a home health aide instead of CNA, does that count as not using your certification?
Does HHA certification lapse the same way?

In my state (Iowa), you have to work at least 8 hours in a year to keep up your certification. I think home health would count, as long as your job title was "CNA" or if they required you to be a CNA to do the job. I don't think they literally ask how much you have used your skills.

Not sure, but there may also be some yearly inservice requirements.
Best to check with the state board/agency who issued your certificate for info ( as states differ). You might also check with who ran your school program.

i work for a home health agency, and am a CNA. When the time comes for me to renew the agency will be able to help me renew it. Home health does count for your hours. Hope that helps
