Hello Everyone;

I am searching for CNA classes given in the New York City area for a friend. Years ago, I attended ABC Training Center, when it was located in Manhattan, and now, they relocated to the Bronx. Too far for my friend. If anyone is aware of classes given in Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn, please post.

Greatly appreciated!

I want to thank you all for responding. I passed the information to my friend, and hope that she follows up.

Hi NY Dreamer. I am considering doing a CNA course in either Queens, Manhattan, or some parts of Brooklyn. I am considering NY Medical Career Training school and would like to know what you thought of the school. It is difficult to compare prices and schedules of other schools b/c a few of them require that the applicant go for an in-person evaluation (Allen school and Manhattan Institute). I like NY Medical Career Training School's site b/c all of the information is there.

What did you think of the teaching? And were they of assistance to you when you tried to find a job afterwards?

Thank you!

I thought it was fine, nothing special. Manhattan Inst. does put their prices online, at least, last time I checked they did. I didn't go to them to find me a job, so I don't know how they are as far as that. Before you put you money down on any class, contact the Adult Learning Center about their free class.

I didn't bother wasting my time contacting any school who didn't publicly anounce their prices. If you can't tell me the price over the phone, then I just take it to mean you must be overpriced.

Thanks NYDreamer. Oh, so Manhattan Ins does have their prices.. . there were a couple that didn't put prices online but prefer that students go meet with them in person to have an evaluation or such. I don't really have the time for that so I, like you, take it to mean that the school is overpriced. However, the Allen school Jamaica/Brooklyn did tell me that they had some sort of FInancial Aid. I wonder if anyone knows about that?

Thanks for the info, NY Dreamer!

IMHO, if a school offers FA for a class that is only a few weeks long, then I REALLY have to wonder about the price for that class. If you click 'Register Now' on the Man. Inst. site and scroll down, you will see their prices. Take care!

I went to The Allen School. Im waiting to take State Boards now. The fee for the CNA course is $1,400. When you work, 1199 Union will reimburse $740 of your tuition fee. Just wanted to save you a trip. LOL!

I am a little frustrated with my search. I have been reading the posts on this site regarding CNA training in hospitals and many are saying that you can train to be a cna at hospitals and nursing homes. I have called hospitals in my area, and gone through the phone books without results. What I need to know is specifically which hospitals and which nursing homes in NEW YORK CITY. Please, I am not interested in Upstate New york (no Rochester, or Oneonta,) thank you.
