When I read posts about CNA classes, I see some people have 10 days of class and 10 days of clinic, etc... I found a school in St. Pete, FL called Florida Medical Prep. I can take the class and be done in one weekend flat! Am I missing something? :confused: If I go here, will I actually become a CNA? I am confused as it seems too good to be true. The cost is around $300 so I know it's not trying to rob me or anything like that, just wondering why such a short schedule. Please help and thanks in advance!

Depends on the state requirements, if they exist for CNAs.

Check with your state's board of nursing and find their guidelines. In Oregon we have 75 classroom hours (minimum) and 75 hours clinical (minimum). 10 days & 10 days in my program...

There is a 10 week program here in Oregon, offered through the local community college... They offer the same hours, just not as compacted in time. And the CC costs more...

Some LTC facilities offer the training too.... They offer the training at no cost, but a contract for employment.

Research with your state's nurse licensing agency. They may have a list of approved education providers....

From what I can see there there is NO minimum requirement for education... IF you can pass the written test and performance exam.... (Plus pay the fee, plus pass the background)

thank you so much for your help! If that is the case, I am taking the weekend courses. I already took a sample test on-line and got 2 wrong out of 60 questions. Most was common sense anyway. Thanks again!:D

Hi, i just finish Medical Prep of Pinellas training, it cost me 250$+25 CPR, like we have told we need to have CPR, its take only 2 hours to do it, very quick program 5days or 2 wekends, but you have to study on your own to keep up, especialy with Skill, if you don't practice at home you will not pass, I received aplication for florida Board Exam 165$ need to pay and sent it out ,then i have to waite for time and day, but instructor told that we can apply for job with out license, he give us Certificate that we finish training, Nursing home will be hire you with out up to 120days after you need pass exam, i guess since you will start working you will get those skill expirience, good luck, if you need more info let me know good luck.O i forgot after you work 3 month you can ask for money reimburse for the course and exam, this is Florida Law.

Thanks! I have been certified in CPR before and passed the test with flying colors. Our health insurance wanted all employees to be certified. I guess I won't have to stress about that now. I can't wait to start! Thanks for the info!!

I just took my certification exam in fl. The written test is nothing like that practice test. Most of the questions were whats the best answer and I was sitting there like uummmm all of them. I took a course in tarpon springs that was a week long. My school also offers it for 2 weekends also. I have some advice though. Send in for your test date asap. Hope this helps

Did you complete the Florida Medical Prep training for the CNA cert? I was thinking of doing the weekend course as well. Any advice?

I have not done it but was starting to wonder if they can actually teach you what you need to know in 2 weekends. Other training classes are about 6 -11 weeks!
