Cna instructor:diarrhea of the mouth

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

My cna instructor told me that she has doubts that I'll pass the skills test. I don't appreciate her telling me that in front of the class because my spirits are down, and the other students don't want to study with me because I'm pegged as the slow learner. :(

i don't understand why nursing instructors always have to pick on the weakest students in a rude manner. I try to be on my A game but I'm bound to make mistakes as a newbie in the health field.

Thank u mean instructors for showing me the cruel, heartless side of nursing. I'm leaving this profession and not looking back.

I am sorry that you are feeling down because your instructor said that in front of the class. Wouldn't you rather study hard and prove her wrong by passing?

Also when I look back at your posting history you have treads going back years when you say "I am getting out of nursing.". So either you are easily discouraged or perhaps this isn't for you

I'm easily discouraged regardless of what major I'm in.

Agree with previous poster. Perhaps this career field isn't for you.

Just don't go out there thinking that every other career field is going to be fully of happy, helpful people. No one is going to hold your hand and make you successful, and there are many, many fields out there that are much more cutthroat than nursing is made out to be.

If you're easily discouraged, no career field is for you. Sorry to seem harsh, but if you want to get anywhere, you have to buckle down and work your butt off. This applies whether you're caring for patients, building houses, or designing rocket ships.

There are jerks everywhere. If you're going to shut your life down every time you meet one, you're sabotaging yourself. Why would you give them so much power? Determine your own destiny, don't let them do it for you.

It doesn't matter if Deetrain is easily discouraged or not. No instructor should be actively singling out a student in a negative manner. It is one thing to assist the student to help them improve their technique or learning experience, but to put them down in front of the rest of the class? Actively stating they are going to fail? That is not an instructor I want to be around, even if I am one of the 'good' students. The instructor should, to the best of her ability, assist the student positively rather than discouraging the student.

True, we don't know the entire situation. Some people are a little more sensitive. Can a sensitive person suceed in the medical field? Yes, they just need to learn how to manage their emotions. They can be very empathetic and caring people.

A wise person once told me that anything worth doing requires effort. Even the most successful people in the world, regardless of their income, had to fail multiple times before they found success. Failure and success go hand in hand; you can't have one without the other. If you truly want to do this, you have to make an effort and learn from your failures. Yes, it was not appropriate for the instructor to say what was said in public, but take that experience and make it a positive.

instructor," I doubt you'll pass the skills test "

you," I have confidence in your teaching skills "

Prove them wrong

With this thread and the "taco" thread that the OP posted, I cannot take him seriously. Not to mention, if you're referring to a lady parts as a taco on a health professional site, I would call you out in the middle of class too. I'm all for instructors being professional and not singling people out, unless someone is being a "class clown" in what is a very serious situation. This isn't high school anymore.

All that being said...I can joke with the best of them. Just not sure what you're going for here...serious or not?

Really Jasonj880......you need to take 2 steps back or maybe 3 feet away because you don't know me, and you don't know the entire situation. I would just keep on browsing if you have nothing to contribute, you just want to start trouble on this site because you can't take your frustrations out on anyone irl. :::Shakes head ::::
